This scene is so emotionally amazing. It was so grabbing that it motivated me to get an acoustic and start playing. This game is truly beautiful.

The Last of Us 2 and Death Stranding: Two recent big examples of how stepping outside the line can get you killed. This is what’s wrong with our gaming community.

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 03:53 AM PDT

The Last of Us 2 and Death Stranding is a testament to no matter how incredible a game is, if it goes against people's morals and beliefs, it's to be destroyed. Without even experiencing it or forming their own opinion, the close-mindedness and sheep-like mentalities of these people could kill originality and the extremities that these artists and creators go to for our own entertainment as we know it.

The Last of Us 2 still to this day is ridiculed for a transgender(Abby) who ruthlessly kills Joel for no reason and the entire story revolves around a lesbian couple with a strong SJW agenda that's being driven into our skulls. Oh wait that's what these trolls want you to believe, that actually couldn't be further from the truth, because if the people who say this stuff actually played the game and formed their own opinion, they would understand what an incredible journey this game actually is. This toxicity whether we like it or not is extremely damaging to not only the game, but also everyone involved in making it happen.

For the ones who have played it, I don't need to sit here and praise every aspect of The Last of Us 2 because most of us already know what an achievement and masterpiece this game really is. Even story aside which I think was fantastic, this is some of the most fun combat I've ever played in my 26 years of gaming. It's one of the most beautifully detailed games ever made. This game is a triumph in every single way but a lot of people out there would tell you other wise, and these are people who's never even played a single second of the game.

This is a subreddit for The Last of Us so I wont sit here and preach about Death Stranding, but it's in a similar predicament. One of the most beautiful games I've ever played. Some of the most enjoyable characters I've ever had the pleasure of playing with in a story. An amazing soundtrack. An incredibly, deep layered story. But oh wait, it's an Amazon Package Delivery game where you're a mailman and carry around a baby strapped to your chest.

Literally zero context. Zero playtime. But major damage to the sales and reception these two games receive. These false, unwanted critiques keeps interested buyers away from incredible experiences. A LOT of people will crucify these games because it goes against their code. A code against stepping outside the lines and doing something different. A code that dares something to be new and exciting. Stepping beyond the realm of the Battle Royale and First-Person Shooters.

The sad reality is that this could kill the progression of these types of games. What's going to happen when Naughty Dog drops a trailer for the Online mode for TLOU2? It's going to get double the amount of dislikes to likes. 70% of the comments will be people talking about Abby being a tranny. "RiP Joel who died for nothing." "This story sucks(even though I've never experienced it)." Blah. Blah. Blah.

I give the biggest thanks to teams like Naughty Dog and Kojima Productions for giving me two of the best gaming experiences that I've had, not only for this generation, but ever. ❤️

You don’t actually need Code to open the Vaults in The last of us 2

The title says it all, you don't actually need to find and search for the code, you can listen to the different click sound it makes when it you dial the right number. Amazing attention to details in this game!

The scene where Ellie plays the gee-tar for Dina hit me so differently emotionally in a way I don’t really think it was meant to.

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 03:15 PM PDT

"I'll be gone in a day or two" that line right there. That one little god damn line. When I heard it I immediately thought that this game, this game that I had waited 6 years for would probably be over within a day or two. The story would have ended and this world and characters that I love so much will be "over" with. 6 years wait reduced into 2 days. It's became one of my favourite scenes from any game hands down.

And I am genuinely looking forward to whatever game is next within this world. Continuation of Ellie's story? Give me it. Spin off with Abby and Lev? I'll have it. Cooking with Dina? Give me that shit. But I just hope they haven't been discouraged on making anymore games within this world for fear of fans. I would love to say to take it with a grain of salt but that's not how you take criticism. You listen to it, understand it and ultimately apply it when/where necessary because not all criticism is good criticism.

Anyway I just wanted to say how much I love this game, it's characters/cast, composers, writers, directors and designers. Thanks for making one of my favourite games.

What I learned from playing the Original Last of Us with my dad.

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 01:50 PM PDT

Ok, so basically, my dad started getting back into video games when I got a PS4, first with the Battlefront 2015 and Battlefield 5. However he straight out refused to play any "movie game," that being a cutscene heavy game.

After a bet which I won, he was forced to play at least one hour of the original TLOU with me. After the opening mission, he was hooked. That was a month ago. Every weekend since we've played and this weekend, after about 18 hours he completed the game. Here's some things I've learned about Part One in general, coming from the view of someone who has never played a narrative game in his life.

    1. Shooting is hard. The guns in TLOU are tough to wield when you haven't the right upgrades, when your like my dad, who is having his first 3rd person shooter since Tomb Raider, they're a pain to use without timing and luck. His weapon of choice throughout most of the game was a pipe or a brick(or a shotgun).

    2. The story is still great. To nobody's surprise TLOU still has a great story, (although I much prefer the wtf moments and redemption arc of part 2) it was probably the thing my dad was most pessimistic about. "There's no way a game can have an excellent story". However he (surprisingly) grew to love it. He stopped asking to skip cutscenes after the prologue. Overall, he loved the story, except the part where Joel survives his impaling(too unrealistic).

    3. Fresh eyes. Experiencing the game for the first time is something I'll never be able to do again. But seeing someone else do it is pretty amazing. Seeing all the plot twists without knowing what was going to happen to the characters at the end, who would live and who would die. Overall that was my favourite part of the experience.

Conclusion. TLOU is a great game. Experiencing it again was a pretty great time and I'd recommend doing this with anyone who has never played the game before. I can't wait to play the sequel with him soon!

I'll do a sequel on this if you all want and this gets enough attention. It's a great way to have some fun with your family/friend.

Would play DLC as Ellie in Jackson

2 months after playing I’ve learned to appreciate the game for what it is.

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 04:30 PM PDT

"SPOILER". After beating the game I felt the emotional impact of the game as if it happened in real life. At the time I wasn't aware of that and I attributed how I felt to me not liking the game and the game being shit. I wanted the game to make me feel good like that's the main reason we play.

After seeing what happens to Joel I just thought why would they do that? After a month I or so I started thinking about why they would do this. I realized it's actually the most realistic death possible.

In real life chances are your not going to get the chance to say your final goodbye to your loved ones. It's gonna happen without you even knowing about it until it's too late.

Many of us play video games cause it makes us feel somewhat in control in this chaotic world. But Joel's death was taken straight from real life. Death is out of the blue and unexpected and can seemingly just not make any fucking sense.

I also thought about how I lost my dad as a 10 year old boy. I felt the same way Ellie did. This is so UNFAIR and why would this happen to me? But in reality in life there's so many things we don't have control over. Ellie didn't get to have that last conversation with joel now she has to live with that the rest of her life BUT THATS LIFE.

So a lot of this game can be unenjoyable because it's real life. Now this isn't to say it's a perfect game I still feel some shit shouldn't of happened but I now appreciate the game much more.

I think this message would've struck a lot harder if it was more clear I feel like there was a lot of mixed messages thrown around to where it just felt like Joel died for no reason and I think if they made it more clear they were showing how brutal real life can be instead of "revenge" more people would've understood the death.

I haven't replayed TLOU2 since I finished it back in July...

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 03:35 PM PDT

I'm just curious if anyone else feels the same..

Contrary to a lot of people, I loved the game. I was fully immersed in this world, I didn't want the game to end. Although, when I was playing I was emotionally wrecked. I literally went through an emotional rollercoaster. I've been wanting to replay the game but I don't think I'm ready to go through all those emotions once again. How did you feel when you replayed the game? Is anyone else in the same boat as me?
