I really love the way hitstun works in TLoU2

    Posted: 27 Jul 2021 04:32 PM PDT

The gameplay in TLoU2 is meant to embody the feeling of struggling. You're not Batman or the God of War, you're one girl fighting against an overwhelming threat by any means necessary. You're not supposed to feel in control of the battle. So it makes sense that elements of the gameplay would help bring that forth, and I think my favorite one, and arguably the most subtle one, is the way hitstun works upon being shot.

There's a lot of different scenarios in which you'll be shot, but only certain specific ones will cause your character to fall over, or be pushed back, or just stumble and keep running. The pattern linking them all together is that they all force you to play like the desperate survivor that you are. If an enemy has you pinned behind cover, and you try to pop out and shoot anyway, bam. On the floor. If you try and charge at an enemy who's shooting at you like it's modern warfare 2, not only do they land every shot, but you get knocked back by each blast, and are thus forced to retreat. If you're stationary and aiming but the enemy lines up their shot first, they might knock you flat (more likely if they have a bigger gun, or you've already taken a round from that position), and you're suddenly on defense, deciding whether to shoot from the floor or just get up and book it.

There is one situation where getting shot won't stop you in your tracks though: when you're running away. If the bullet strikes you in your side or your back while you're on the move, you'll just stumble and keep running. In doing this, the game is quietly encouraging you to adopt a playstyle fitting of the lone survivor that you are: one where running and hiding and flanking are necessary to get out of tight spots rather than just standing your ground and capping everybody like in most shooters. Resourcefulness and adaptation is key, and I little touches like this are why I think TLoU gameplay stands out in a way that most people don't realize.

Saoirse Ronan would be a great Ellie for the Part II-storyline in the tv adaptation.

    Ranking the Seattle days

    Posted: 27 Jul 2021 04:19 PM PDT

6# Ellie: Seattle day 3 Eh, this one felt rushed. It's the shortest Seattle day and also the most boring one. The whole point is to get to the aquarium and that's it. The bloater fight in the arcade was cool and driving a boat was fun but it was relatively bland day.

5# Abby: Seattle day 1 This one was pretty good but it was very basic. Abby is first on a regular FOB thing, Then she's tries to find owen. And she's captured and is saved. The day definitely sets up her story good but in a very slow paced way. There's also flashbacks in this one which is very annoying and unneeded.

4# Ellie: Seattle Day 1 This is the very first Seattle day we get in the game. It defiantly set up Ellie's perspective good but like abby's. It has very slow pacing and finding fuel for the generator can be difficult on a first try. But the scenery in Seattle in this one is beautiful.

3# Abby: Seattle Day 2 This day is really intense. Abby is forced to climb a high building in order to save Yara and doing so also has to face her fear of heights. The seraphites are enjoyable in this one. We get really strong indicators of Levs past. The best part is defiantly the rat king boss fight. Let's just say, it can give Resident Evil a run for its money.

2# Abby: Seattle Day 3 This is easily the best day of all the 3 days in abby's story. The set up is incredible. It first starts off with a fun but tense sniper scene with Tommy and we finally see the bastard manny get killed. Then Abby and Yara head to the scar island and pretty much have to fight for their lives and Abby even betrays her group. So much stuff happens in this day and it was all so fun. The only bad part of this day is the final part in the theater for me at least.

1# Ellie: Seattle Day 2 This is perfect in every way. Not only do we get Ellie in her iconic outfit in this one we also get a great start in Hillcrest. We see more flashbacks with Joel and a cool bloater fight. And the hospital part was really fun. The best part was defiantly getting to the hospital as Ellie is forced to fight hordes of infected as well as a great introduction to the Seraphites. They are the best part of this day.

While I like all the days. Some are defiantly better than others! :)

    100% Completed TLOU2 today.

    Posted: 27 Jul 2021 03:57 AM PDT

Hey guys, I know nobody asked or anything, but I just wanted to share this with someone because I don't have anyone to tell this to.

I just completed TLOU2 on grounded and that concluded the 100% all trophies and collectibles run.

It has been a real ride playing through the game nearly 5 times. Oh boy, what a journey.

Be it riding through the abandoned ruins of downtown Seattle, or fighting the gruesome rat king down to the last bullet, I loved every single moment.

Loved the music, the art, the cutscenes, the entire experience was beautiful and mesmerising.

Thank you for listening to my message, hope you all have a great day. Until next time.

What if TLOU2 got the “director’s cut” treatment and was re-released with the cut content we heard of?

There would be so much potential. I doubt it would ever happen but wow a boy can dream :0 It would be like dlc but better
