Just picked up this beautiful book. Whether you hate it or love it, this is a special game. And I'll never understand the obnoxious hatred towards it.

To me, Abby Anderson has become a substantial character in "The Last of Us" and shouldn't be excluded in the continuation of the story!

    Posted: 07 Apr 2021 09:59 AM PDT

After finishing Part II I spend a lot of time thinking about how the story could continue if Neil Druckmann decides to this with Part III. There are many interesting ideas and themes I've seen, there are people who think that the story should focus on Ellie's journey from now on, showing her journey towards redemption and finding hope after all the terrible events that happened in Part II.

And while I 100% agree with that, there are also some people that think we won't or shouldn't see Abby ever again. But to me, she has become an extremely important character (despite having the purpose of being the other side of the coin) and I think her inclussion in Part III is necessary:

    • Alongside Joel and Ellie, she is the character with the most screentime. So much time was spent to establish her as a character, her personality, fears, hopes and faults, incredibly acted by Laura Bailey. The bonding between her and Lev was among the best elements that made Part II's story so special.
    • Many people cared for her as much as they did for Ellie at the end of the game. Her character has a lot of fans and while she doesn't have to be playable, it would be a disservice to never have her appear or even mention her in the story again. Many people love her, but her introduction into the game was also controversial and I don't think a stand-alone title like "The Last of Us: Abby's Journey" would ever get greenlit by Sony.
    • Abby is one of the most crucial elements in Ellie's character development. And Tommy's as well! We don't know yet what he'll be capable of and how far he'll go if he finds out that Ellie let Abby go. He is currently the one who is the least willing to let the past go and move on.
    • Part II's epilogue clearly set up the Fireflies as a returning group, regaining strengh with over 200 people according to the guy Abby contacted in Santa Barbara. The Fireflies are the most-well known groups in the world of „The Last of Us" and there is a real possibility the characters living in Jackson will make contact with them.
    • While Ellie's and Abby's story of vengace is over, their story of redemption isn't. Abby wants to fullfill Owen's last wish to be a part of the Fireflies again and it would be really interesting to see how the group has changed since their downfall at the end of Part I. The end of Part II feels like Ellie and Abby could meet at least one time again, even if it's just a little nod between them or acknowledging their mistakes of their past and apologizing.

The unpredictability of the "The Last of Us" games is one of the reasons why the story is so amazing and most of the things some people predict now (Ellie looking for a vaccine again, Ellie and Abby teaming up) are way to predictable and probably won't happen. I am open for anything Naughty Dog does and really looking forward to it. But if Abby doesn't at least have one scene where we see what happened to her and Lev after Santa Barbara, it would feel like there is a small piece missing to make the conclusion of "The Last of Us" completely satisfying.

I can't get enough of this masterpiece. This story and experience will stick with me for a very long time and I'll always be grateful for it. I have no desire to play anything else right now. This was just a beautiful experience from start to finish.

Abby in the forest! Survived just over 10 minutes racking up 50+ infected kills while trapped before running out of supplies! I’ve already beat the game so running through on survivor with maxed out resources is super fun.

What’s the biggest bug you’ve seen in part 2?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2021 04:15 PM PDT

I think I only had a single noticeable bug in my first play through, in the very first cutscene. Joel and Tommy t-posed for a split second and that was it for the entire play through.

Though, my second play through saw quite a few more bugs. After aiming one time Dina's body disappeared, only for her head and upper chest to be floating. I saw the t-posing bug a few times in cutscenes. At the farm the audio went out of sinc and the animation of Ellie and Dina dancing was extremely bugged. And lastly as Abby on the skyscraper gun fight I somehow managed to jump into a concrete pillar.

I'm overall just curious about other people's experience with bug, even after a decently buggy second play through I still think it's the most polished game ever made, with only rdr2 and GoW coming in where close in that aspect.

Side note: my first play through was on a base ps4 and my second was on a ps5, though I doubt that effected anything

    Criticism About Combat Encounters

    Posted: 07 Apr 2021 09:32 PM PDT

One thing that always bugs me about ND's combat encounters is continuity, in a way.

This isn't exclusive to Part II, but a lot of their previous works as well like Part I or Uncharted 4, to name a few. There'd be like an encounter before another area with another group of enemies, and if you have a massive shootout before hand, the next group are just oblivious to the gunfight that had just occured.

The only time I can see this detail accommodated for was the Pittsburgh Hotel in Part I. On one floor, there's enemies while another group patrols the next. If a gunfight erupts on the lower floor, the enmies are on "alert" mode when you climb up the stairs.

But another example of this weird continuity error is in the same game, with Boston's Slums. The very first encounter with humans (Robert's men) are an automatic gunfight. There is no stealthing this, Tess shoots first, you shoot back.

Then, literally an alley down, is MORE of Robert's men who don't say a word about the gunfight that just occured. "Two of our guys died trying to take Tess out. She and Joel are probably on their way here right now"

PROBABLY?? Did you not hear the gunfire literally down the alley?

What's even worse about this is that there's ANOTHER encounter literally behind the door in this area. If you shoot everyone there, Joel and Tess are able to waltz right through cause of the perfectly sound proof door that you had to unlock.

This is especially worse in Uncharted 4, since explosions tend to happen left and right.

    Does this bug anyone else?

Professional guitarist' of this subreddit, how accurate is it?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2021 09:24 PM PDT

Ellie can play around with guitar's found in the game, you can play real life songs with the in game guitar, so im curious. Any guitar players who know their shit, have you played any real songs in the game? Are the chords correct, aswell as her finger placement on the strings? Thanks in advance!

Why do you think Naughty Dog made Abby morally ''ambiguous''?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2021 11:25 AM PDT

It seems like if Naughty Dog wanted us to like Abby much more. The easiest route would be making her close to some kind of goody two shoes that happened to do one big ''bad deed''. Or make her character loves to wear her heart on her sleeves(like Ellie from the first game) yet, Abby isn't really none of those things. She is flawed and they don't shy away from showing her darker side. Or, did they realize trying to make her too likable wouldn't work and counterintuitive.

Hello, if you have a couple minutes it would help me immensely if you looked at three posters I made inspired by the upcoming Last Of Us tv show for school, and answered a few questions on what you think of them. I only need about 100 respondents. Thank you! minor spoiler for part 2 inside

    Revolver

    Posted: 07 Apr 2021 08:32 PM PDT

I was reading a walkthrough from August of 2020 and it says that the barrel extension increased damage as well as accuracy. The upgrade was called damage and cost 70 scrap. But when I was playing, the upgrade was called accuracy and only increased accuracy at a cost of 40 scrap. Did ND change this at some point and has anyone noticed a difference during gameplay? Thank you.
