I love this scene... The man burst into tears... and after that he smoothes his voice and say: Yeeep..

The most disgusting scene in the game.

    Posted: 17 Apr 2021 12:59 PM PDT

I have shot people's heads, dogs and knees off(in the game btw) but nothing disgusted me more than the scene where Tommy tries to convince Ellie to go after Abby. Tommy knows what Ellie is going through and how hard she's trying to keep her shit together and he just busts in there with that fricking map and tries to guilt Ellie into going after Abby while understanding what that means for Dina and JJ.

And the thing is it makes perfect sense. Even though Tommy's the one who was okay with leaving Abby behind in Seattle after getting back to Jackson he became this broken man.

He has a scar on his face, he has to limp around, Maria "left" him and he couldn't get the person who killed his brother. I think he has this motivation to just accomplish something even though killing Abby won't solve anything.

So....that scene. I kinda loved it.

I finally got around to playing The Last of Us Part 2. And i knew Joel was going to die from the amount of people throwing a hissy fit about it. But I absolutely loved how it was handled. It was the first time a game made me incredibly mad and upset, i could empathise clearly with Ellie in that situation and wanted to shoot Abby right in the face.

It was brutal, shocking and tragic.

The first time Joel calls Ellie...

    Posted: 17 Apr 2021 12:51 PM PDT

'Baby-girl'... 😭😭 After she's almost been killed and eaten by the cannibal bastards.

Some time before that was when he told her he wasn't her dad and was trying to get rid of her, then he goes and calls her that and the emotions ran high.

Man, they really played with your heart strings in these games.

Anyway, after finishing 2 I had a fast play through LOU remastered again and Left Behind for the first time (dunno how that passed me by). Both games easily 10/10 and reach legendary status for me.

    Ellie goes full midwest emo

I know my opinion is different from you but I will still give mine. I have watched the last of us and the the last of us part Two 20 times on YouTube cause I don't have a PlayStation.

The ending is so poetic. Ellie spared Abby, not because she decided revenge was wrong, rather she realized that her hatred for Abby came from a very different place.

Ellie hates Abby for ruining her chance to forgive Joel for what he had done. She, like Abby, had tortured Joel in one way or another by pushing him out of her life for what he had done and this haunted Ellie. Ellie never had time to forgive Joel and accept his actions.

Ellie viewed killing Abby as a sort of penance that would absolve herself of her own sins against Joel which she had projected onto Abby to remove herself from the guilt. In the end, as she had Abby fighting for her last breaths, she reflects on who Joel really was. She remembers the man that became her family and the good in Joel.

She reflects on the night before his death when she made the first step towards forgiveness and acceptance before that came to a sudden halt with his death. She realizes that killing Abby changes nothing and finally reaches deep enough to remove some blame from Abby and place it upon herself.

People are confused when they think she forgave Abby because she didn't in that moment. Ellie forgave herself and Joel. She finally came to terms with Joel's decision and the fallout that occurred after it.

This is clear when she returns to the farm and plays his guitar for the last time. She plays the song Joel played for her when he introduced the guitar to her. "If I ever were to lose you, I'd surely lose myself."

This line reflects both Ellie and Joel's feelings about their relationship with each other. Joel would've lost himself if he left Ellie in the hospital and Ellie lost herself after he died. Ellie restored herself by sparing Abby and maintaining an ounce of the humanity that is so prevalent in Ellie during the LOU1.

Every time she strings the guitar I thought of Joel and that special moment we get in the first half of the game. When she plays it for the last time, the song represents the very essence of who she is but this last time it is broken due to the loss of her fingers but also a loss of something much more. The music is symbolizing the restoration of Ellie and her and Joel's bond but also this new brokenness reveals a missing part of the herself that will always be gone now that she has accepted that Joel is gone.

The loss of this important part of her life can be heard through the broken plucks of the guitar strings which sound so tragic after hearing that beautiful rhythm throughout the game. It is such a tragic and beautiful message of coming to terms with loss and finding forgiveness within.

It's a shame that people do not understand the ending and simply confine it to "revenge is bad." It is so much more than revenge and hatred. It's about love and forgiveness. Personally, I think Joel would be proud that Ellie found herself through forgiveness rather than following through with revenge.

He sacrificed humanity since he believed they had no cure for their inhumanity. Joel found the missing humanity in Ellie, and she proved him right in the end.

Lastly, after Ellie strums the last few notes of Future Days, she leaves behind the guitar which symbolizes her new found ability to move forward with her life and assumably returns to Dina in Jackson. This game is a masterpiece.

Last of Us references in new movie Love & Monsters

    Posted: 17 Apr 2021 01:40 PM PDT

So I've been watching a new movie on Netflix lately - Love and Monsters.

It's fine. Mild laughs, it has Michael Rooker (which is always a good thing) but I noticed the main character, at the point where he leaves the first location, is wearing a t-shirt that's almost exactly like one Ellie wears in LOU, he also has a similar backpack and carries arrows and a bow. Then it dawned on me that the guys name in it is also Joel.

So a quick Google leads me to this article ( https://decider.com/2020/10/16/love-and-monsters-director-interview-dylan-obrien-dog/ ), where the director admits that the Last of Us is a massive influence on him, and the movie. Apparently naming the main guy Joel was intentional, as was his sunset t-shirt.

Then you have Michael Rooker - a grizzled, experienced survivor who travels with a kick-ass little girl who's a bad-ass and expert bowman.

Anyone experience a control or camera glitch in last of us 2?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2021 10:49 PM PDT

No spoilers please just In case you wanted to reference a point in the game.

My controller acts possessed. J don't think it's ever in a combat situation, mostly in tighter areas when you are walking slow and exploring. The camera will spin in circles and move like it has a mind of to own. Even in the menu, or where I'm going to save a game for example the d pad won't work, and then it will fly through the options. I have 2 controllers and they both don't so they can't be the issue. Never had it happen in any other game either.

    Two weird nit picks

    Posted: 17 Apr 2021 08:35 PM PDT

    1) In Abby and Owen's scene on the Ferris wheel, Abby says it was just their deal to get up there... but how the hell was she supposed to get down without jumping? Like how did they get up there in the first place without climbing? Love that scene but realising this broke things for me! 2) Abby loses her pistol in the Yara/Isaac shootout... but then she has it on her in the next scene!

    The aquarium donators.

    Posted: 17 Apr 2021 08:07 PM PDT

While I was playing as Abby in the aquarium I noticed a bunch of donators on the wall and the names were very clear to read. Are these the names of people who helped or donated to Naughty Dog or something or are they irrelevant to IRL?

Do you fear any change in the remake? Why?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2021 05:02 PM PDT

In general, remakes don't tend to take too much liberty with the original story or characters. But whatever change there was tend to be welcomed more or less enthusiastically.
