So I was going through “the art of the last of us” and upon looking at the early character concept art of Joel, I felt an uncanny resemblance between him and Pedro pascal. This casting actually makes some sense

Probably the most brutal thing I've done in TLOU2

Well that’s one way to start.....

Unpopular opinion: “You think I’d let you do this on your own?” was actually great

    Posted: 07 Mar 2021 05:38 PM PST

I thought it was a great reveal, it actually got me to do a little chuckle and out loud say "well played Naughty Dog". I knew Joel wasn't coming back from the golf accident but I must admit when I saw the hand round Ellie's mouth I did doubt that for a second...

Idk, I just thought it was a really cool reveal to see Jesse there helping Ellie. Even though we saw very little of him I really liked his character.

Unpopular opinion: i feel like if you cant sympathize with Ellie at the end then also game will not work for you

    Posted: 07 Mar 2021 07:34 PM PST

So it's not like that I ended up sympathize with Abby more than Ellie

The game want you to hate or dislike Ellie at that particular sequence but also Game wanted to sympathize with her after she let Abby live

That's why game has really emotional effect

So at farm you should able to sympathize with her ,I see at farm scene many YouTubers did not really invested on her they were acting like Ellie deserved it

    That's not how work,

Her going after Abby turned out to be life saver for Abby and Lev and also she was suffering from severe PTSD hating her will not work

The ending was meant to sympathize with Abby and disliking Ellie at particular part but also after Ellie spared Abby and lost fingers game wants you to sympathize with Ellie too that's why game went on Farm not because Ellie deserved it but game wants you to sympathize her and her loss , and also look at her face she was constantly getting that PTSD and at farm it really stopped

weird train of thought but do yall think clicker fungus is edible?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2021 10:41 AM PST

i mean, at least one person after the outbreak must have been starving and desperate. it must have happened at least once.

so my question is, can you really become infected from it? because according to the games only infected bodily fluids and breathing spores can infect you.

clickers don't release spores while alive. clicker fungus doesn't have any bodily fluids in it, since it's just mushroom growing on the infected.

so considering you clean it and boil it well, do you think that clickers could make a decent lifesaving meal?

Explain to me how "Joel robbed Ellie of her choice"?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2021 05:07 PM PST

Ok I really don't get how "Joel robbed Ellie of her choice" became a thing.

I played TLOU 1 Two times, one of them a couple of months before Part 2 came so excuse me if I'm forgetting somethings.

My read and I thought what most agreed on after finishing the first game that it was The Fireflies who didn't give Ellie any choice. The girl was unconscious when she was brought to them and they didn't have the decency or the sense of morality to ask for her consent before splitting her head and killing her. Marlene said to Joel "That's what she would want and you know it", well Marlene then this is easy, wait a day or two and ask her if you are so confidant that's what Ellie wants.

But that's not the case, when I played the game I felt something scummy about the Fireflies. They don't care whether Ellie said yes or no to the surgery and to prove this look at what Druckmann said in a Q&A in reddit after the release of the game:

    https://preview.redd.it/tpwbc19t3pl61.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae3f4f9d687f15c3aa72cc9dd4f7289ea59f8242

It can't be clearer than that. Her choice was robbed by the Fireflies not Joel. A situation where I would say Joel robbed her of her choice is if the Fireflies wanted for Ellie to wakeup and ask her, Joel knowing that in matter of days (hours?) she is gonna wake and there a 50/50 chance (or maybe more) that she is gonna agree, Joel didn't like the odds of that and took action, killing the staff and a lot of Fireflies and lying about it. Honestly only then I would consider what he did "Robbing her of choice".

Also couple of things to put into consideration:

    • Before reaching the final chapter, I can't remember any instance where Ellie gives the indication to Joel that she would be more than happy to sacrifices herself, in fact it's quite the opposite. Through their journey she shares her thoughts and dreams to him (She loves dinosaurs, she wants to go to space, she dreads the idea of being alone...etc) she is a girl full of life and loves life even for how harsh it is in this apocalyptic world. So again from where should Joel draw the conclusion that she would easily give up her life?

    • Had there been an urgency element that forced the Fireflies to do the surgery and kill the girl without her consent as soon as possible I would have kinda understood their action. (The writers could have wrote this urgency element, maybe a horde of zombies are drawing near and they have to evacuate the building in matter of hours so that's why they can't wait for her to wake up, I don't know something to that extent) but the writers didn't introduce that element.

So in conclusion, the Fireflies are a scummy organization who didn't give shit if Ellie wanted to do the surgery or not, they would've done it anyway. Joel acted the best way possible given the situation he was in.

Unless I'm missing something here and I would like to hear your inputs.
