    First play through complete.

    Posted: 14 Mar 2021 11:06 PM PDT

I don't know if many are going to agree but, I absolutely loved this game. It's the best game I've played in quite awhile - story wise, gameplay wise, sound wise, it was outstanding. I can definitely understand there are some parts that people don't like, but that just wasn't the case for me. When I initially started playing as Abby, I found it messed up the pacing a little bit, but as I continued, I got sucked in again. I honestly don't HATE her character either...overall even her side of the story was super interesting to play through, and also pretty intense. Idk... it's easy to say that the writers "took the easy way out", but I disagree personally. I think the characters all learn a lot, and I think the overall journey makes sense. I'll always be sad that Joel died of course, but this truly was a true the last of us experience from start till end and I really really hope they make a part 3. And for those that didn't like this game, I hope that if they make a number 3, you guys decide to pick it up and give it a try. Amazing, naughty dog does it again.

    Ellie’s worst crime...

Are we going to ignore the fact that she stole what was likely Bill's only porn mag? Poor bastard is probably rattling around in that town for the rest of his life with no access to the internet neither.

    Ellie's Weapon with Nora

    Posted: 14 Mar 2021 05:20 PM PDT

On my third playthrough of TLOU2 and today I noticed something new in Ellie's confrontation with Nora in the hospital. Nora's last attempt to fight Ellie off is with a metal pipe, which Ellie snatches away from her. When Ellie begins to "make her talk", you see her swinging this metal pipe, which is hooked at the end, bludgeoning Nora with it repeatedly. The shape of the metal pipe and the way she's using it mirrors Abby's bludgeoning of Joel with the golf club.

Any other games with similar combat to Last of Us?

    Posted: 14 Mar 2021 07:07 PM PDT

I love the combat in tlou especially part 2. I like how there are relatively few enemies and that on the harder difficulties it becomes like a puzzle. You have to figure out how to get past them or kill them with very limited resources. Plus the actual combat mechanics are great. Is there anything else that is even slightly similar? Thanks for reading.

    Hunting Rifle + 15" subwoofer = Involuntary whole-face smile.

Really that's all I have to say. On even a modestly high volume with max dynamic range, the deep bass and the reverberating sound and the vibrating of the controller when firing the rifle is one of the most satisfying unexpected and otherwise meaningless experiences in this game.

Compared to the "pop" of the pistol or the "bouche" of the shotgun (both quite accurate, I think), the "Booooooommmmm" of the thundering big barrel beauty is a sound as satisfying as the many scenic views the game gives us.

Did Ellie inadvertently cause the civil war in Seattle?

    Posted: 14 Mar 2021 11:24 AM PDT

Since some of WLF thought she was a Scar (and therefore thought they broke the truce) and the Scars thought she was a WLF. I imagine the WLF then began killing Scars and vice versa, further escalating the violence until the climax on the island and in Haven.

Seems like it to me, but welcome any thoughts.

    An idea for TLOU3 gameplay

    Posted: 14 Mar 2021 10:12 PM PDT

Just had this idea when discussing with someone else on this thread, let me know what you think.

There's been a lot of speculation if 3 will continue with the joint story, go back to single character, or do something else entirely. Here's my idea.

Pick two characters.. for the sake of argument let's just say Abby and Ellie. At the beginning, you pick your primary character. You'll use this selection for the whole game, no switching. You'll level up this character exclusively. The other will function as a helpful NPC like the other companions have been.

At some point, there's a split between the two. Insert any plot reason here. But their paths diverge. You still follow your first selection though. You finish the game with your first selection. Maybe the two meet back up again, maybe not.

After your play through, you can do new game plus with your same selection just like it has been, or you can pick the other character. Let's say you chose Ellie. This time when you play through as Abby, at that split in the story, you follow her perspective instead.

I think this would be an interesting mix of the dual pathway series and the single player aspect everyone has nostalgia for, and it could offer a lot of replay value. It wouldn't be a huge segment of the game obviously, it would be too much work. But if even a solid 1/3 of the game has different paths depending on your chosen initial character, you'd definitely play through a few times.

I'd also break it out more individual to the players themselves too. For example if you're Ellie, your strengths are on stealth. You're smaller so you can get into different places Abby can't. But Abby would be able to wield different weapons entirely suited for her strength. She might not be able to crawl under a car, but she could attack from above, or something like that.

Anyway, just thinking out loud. Seemed like an interesting idea and I thought I'd share. The end.

    Ellie’s scars

    Posted: 14 Mar 2021 10:29 AM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I am doing my second playthrough of TLOU 2 and there was someone that I've been wondering. It's clear that Ellie throughout the game has kept gaining new scars. Initially if I recall correctly we have her famous eyebrow scar and another small one on her cheek. Then later she gets another one on her chin and after the fight with Abby she has one on her lip and other eyebrow. After the fight it also her nose seemed to look kind of different from a profile, or is it just me? Have you guys noticed anything else, and with the nose too, am I just seeing it wrong and there is no change? Also it would be great to hear if you noticed anything else! I think a comparison between Ellie at the start of TLOU 2 and the end of TLOU 2 would be interesting to see and where she's gotten the scars. think Naughty Dog did a great job with continuity in this game. Look forward to hearing your thoughts!
