I’ve completed The Last of Us a few days ago, and I must say that it has one of the best stories of them all, I love both Joel and Ellie, and all of the side characters I’ve interacted with.

If you like the first game but hate part 2, you have every right to but stop bashing on us for loving the game.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 04:32 PM PST

Some people feel entitled and like to hate of those who like part 2, just because they loved part 1 and think the franchise is now ruined. Its great to voice your opinion, but same for us. No one has the right to downright trash on each other just because of a difference of opinion. At best, let's just agree to disagree.

Finally got the platinum, definitely one of my favourite games

Absolutely love the opening credits for TLOU! Hoping to see something similar for the HBO adaptation

It ain't the fanciest display, but looking to my left and seeing this does put a smile on my face

Finally got my vinyl and this artwork is amazing! I'm currently replaying all of TLOU games back to back as a reward for all the studying I've done this year for the professional engineering exam. This vinyl came in at the perfect time since I just started TLOU part 2!

After 5 months I finally got my Ellie pop! I love the detail!

This is starting to get exhausting

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 09:51 AM PST

I love The Last of Us franchise, I've been following it since 2016, when I got my first ever console, a PS4 and have been following Naughty Dog ever since. I was such a huge fan, of course the lead up to release was a rocky road to say the least but I only managed to get spoiled once when the leaks happened with that major plot point.

What I just wanted to say with this post is that, as much as I loved Part I and I adored Part II (think it's one of the best stories ever written) it's so fucking tiresome trying to love this game. All over Twitter you'll see a nice piece of fanart or a photomode or a promotional tweet, and there will just be some rando going "TLoU Part II sucks ass, sjw garbage shit".

Sure, when it's once or twice, you can easily brush it off, these people are talking out of their ass and lack personality since it's now cool to hate on TLoU. Whilst I do completely understand that the game has some issues with the story and as much as these characters mean to them, I honestly can't fathom why they will stop with the hate. It's incredibly annoying.

I love discussing this game, my best friend really disliked Part II but we've had some of the deepest conversations stem from it about what storytelling is, and discussing Trauma and Ellie's and Abby's interconnecting paths, and even though we have major disagreements, it's where the most interesting discussions come from. HOWEVER, when people online just go, 'fucking Last of Us Part II garbage' all over the timeline, every time Part II is as much as mentioned, you just want to start disconnecting from the conversation since it's awful to see something which you love so much be constantly disapproved of.

I don't really know what I'm trying to say here, I guess it's just that I would like the haters to move on, and let us enjoy nice things. Thanks for reading if you did :-)

What got your heart rate up the most?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 04:53 PM PST

What part of The Last of Us Part ll got your heart rate up the highest?

For me it was definitely fighting the Rat King, I knew a boss of some sort was coming based on the whole 20 minutes prior when you clear the lower part of the hospital, but that fricken monster had me fricken running scared for a solid 20-30 minutes trying to defeat it (Survivor player here). Then you don't even get to breathe easy after you kill da big one...damn job well done by Naughty Dog on that one.

Can we appreciate how good the accessibility settings for TLOU2 are?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 07:20 AM PST

I always believed myself to be lucky enough to play any game I wanted because I don't have any major disability. I just can't imagine how difficult it can be for people with disabilities to play videogames.

What Naughty Dog has done with TLOU2 should be an industry standard and I hope that game awards also come out with a "most accessible game" category because I really believe that gaming is for everyone and not just people who have good eyesight, good hearing etc.

I recently saw an article on how cyberpunk 2077 has a scene that caused a reviewer to have seizures and how a big company like CDPR can overlook such a basic detail is beyond me.

Maybe one day there will be a company for an accessibility plugin or API, sort of like Denuvo(but for accessibility and not DRM).

From the bottom of my heart I say I love this game and many around us do to but I have recently noticed that this community like many others are getting quite toxic and concerning the game of the year if ghost of tsushima wins there is no need for any hate or petty behaviour, just congratulate them just please I and I bet don't make the comunity look bad by complaining and agruging and creating problems if there aren't any let's just all be civilised Thank you for coming for my Ted talk

Why This Pivotal Scene isn't full of Plot Holes or bAD wRItiNg

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 08:10 AM PST

I've seen a lot of people argue, in good and bad faith, that Joel's death scene doesn't make any sense, or that it has some plot holes or is an example of bad writing. Here, I've listed some reasons as to why it isn't any of these things and makes sense.

    1. Abby found Tommy and Joel cuz she was investigating horse tracks left by a patrol (which were spotted by Owen. He saw a patrol go from town to the ski lodge. That was Joel and Tommy, who were sent by Maria). Her plan was to see who was on patrol and then get the info from them about Joel's location. She was just lucky that Tommy and Joel were on patrol.
    2. Joel and Tommy are from a friendly community who helps out other survivors and trades with them (trade mentioned by Joel in the final cutscene w Ellie, multiple references to people on patrol helping strangers out). In a letter found in the Jackson hotel w Ellie & Joel, we see that hardened killers and survivors do their best to rebuild their lives and be better people in Jackson.
    3. Tommy mentions his and Joel's name to Abby to calm her down a bit as she was visibly shaken. Chances are she even registered Joel shouting, "TOMMY, I'M RUNNING LOW!", but this happened during gameplay. Regardless, she is shaken up. Tommy does the human thing and takes a moment to calm this young girl down and introduce themselves. A perfectly normal thing to do. There is something called dramatic irony, wherein the viewer is privy to information the characters aren't. You can't expect characters to act upon this information just because YOU know it. That isn't bad writing etc, rather it is a tool often used by writers to build tension, among other things.
    4. Joel and Tommy and Abby were running away from a HORDE of infected. Joel (and presumably) Tommy were running out of ammo. Joel shouts at one point, "TOMMY! I'M RUNNING LOW!"
    5. The blizzard is VERY bad and it'd be dangerous and very difficult to ride back to Jackson. Joel says that they need to go back to Jackson but Tommy replies that the horses won't make it that far in the blizzard.
    6. Abby mentions a secure place where her friends are living and they can take shelter from the horde and the weather. Joel knows this location. The ski lodge this scene took place in is also seen in the second Joel flashback. So Joel has definitely been around in that area. He says, "That's the Baldwin Place. *nodding* That could work."
    7. He does simple math. Better to take his chances with this stranger (whom he saved) in a location that he knows, than stay here, and face off against a horde of infected with his dwindling stockpile of ammo.
    8. When they arrive there, they store their horses. They've seen these people and even briefly fought against the infected with them (when Owen and Co. clear out the horde as Abby, Joel, and Tommy enter the premises)
    9. Troy Baker said that you can see in Joel's body language that he is still a bit unsure about these new people. He is subtly sizing them all up. He is inquiring why and when they came to Jackson. Tommy asks them how they got electricity.
    10. Tommy says that they can come back to Jackson with them and get some supplies as his way of saying thanks for helping them out. A sign of goodwill. Trade. Something Jackson is known to do.
    11. The danger, the backstab, comes from the one stranger Joel trusted. He is unsure of Owen and others, but he knows Abby better. He saved her life. He didn't expect her to be the source of danger. That's why he is taken by surprise.
    12. I didn't notice any sidearms on Tommy or Joel, but even if they did have revolvers or pistols on them, I am not sure what good they would've done. Joel was INCAPACITATED by the shotgun shell, and Tommy was held back and pistol-whipped IMMEDIATELY.
    13. Joel has trusted strangers in the past. He trusted Henry and Sam. He worked with them, even after Henry left him to die. He trusted Henry because he had Sam with him. I imagine he trusted Abby for similar reasons. She is a young girl, not much older than Ellie. People in Jackson are trying to be good. So of course Joel, who is already on patrol and clearing out this horde, decides to help out this young woman in need.
    14. Troy Baker also mentioned in an episode of the Play, Watch, Listen podcast that after Ellie decided to not talk to Joel, he especially became more interested in trying to do good. To somehow make up for his terrible decision by trying to help out and save more people.
    15. Ultimately, Joel knows he made a mistake. Characters are allowed to do that. He isn't omniscient. Baker said that Joel was thinking that he should've been more careful etc etc. But to Joel, it still doesn't matter. He got the girl. He saved Ellie and she has a chance at a good life and that is all that matters to him. Everyone's life comes to an end, this is his. He has no qualms about the choice he made, and if this is the end, you're damn right Joel's gonna meet it with his head held high because THAT is who Joel is.

"Why don't you say whatever speech you've got rehearsed and get this over with?"

One of my favorite lines in the entire TLoU franchise.

I know if your a fan of tlou part 2 your used to getting hated because of your opinion by now because but with the recent win by got (excellent work sucker punch btw) the hate and mocking has burst up again and I want to say I've seen a lot of fans taking the bait and getting angry please try to just ignore them and don't give them what they want we are better then this instead I think we should try to spread positively instead of using your energy on people who didn't like the game find those who did and use your energy to talk about your favourite moments or scenes in the game we don't have to let them drag us down

Best Performance: Ashley Johnson or Laura Bailey. Who did you vote for?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 02:37 PM PST

The Game Awards are literally around the corner and as you all know, both Laura and Ashley are up for the same award. So, who did you vote for and why?

The conflict I felt over choosing between them was pretty real.

I feel like Ashley went to places with Ellie she hadn't previously visited and the nuances in her performance were incredible. On the other hand, Laura really shone as Abby and brought to life a character that was so complex and multifaceted.

At the end of the day (and after an existential crisis over who to vote for), I voted for Ashley.

The Last of Us Remastered Platinum Journey

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 01:45 PM PST

    Which game had better stalkers?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 09:45 AM PST

Personally I thought the way they handled stalkers in Part II were a big improvement; making them super quiet and sneaky added so much to the horror (not to mention those jumpscares of them popping out of the cocoons!). Additionally, I thought their physical design was super cool too.

However, some people seem to prefer the ones from the first game, and I think there are good reasons for that too. They were more difficult to shoot as well as defeat in combat.

Where do you guys stand on this?

    Tiny plothole about Bill's Town/Lincoln

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 08:32 AM PST

So as you may know Bill's Town is Lincoln, a town near Boston. In the game it's named Bill's Town because he is the only one living there and all that, ok cool. The only think I don't understand is why in Bill's Map it says "Bill's Town" in its legend (bottom right, it's hard to see but I think it says "Bill's Town"); like, if the map was made before the apocalypse, it should say "Lincoln" right?

Btw I don't want the post to sound like ranting 😅, it's just something I found interesting :P

Edit: I linked the wiki article, I don't think the image link was working well :/
