Unpopular opinion: Laura Bailey was amazing, but Ashley Johnson is on a whole other level and deserved the award for best performance.

Everyone is talking about GOTY and Laura Bailey's win, but I wanted to highlight the Innovation in Accessibility Award!

    Posted: 11 Dec 2020 09:22 AM PST

From the moment I booted up the game and saw all of the different accessibility options I was so excited. I'm not physically disabled in any way, but there are so many people that are, and video games are for everyone. The amount of customization possible, from colors, to controls, to difficulty settings, allows the game to be customized and enjoyed in a way that anyone can enjoy it. Especially with games that are thought of as "difficult," there tends to be backlash to adding easier modes or accessibility options. But I honestly think it just makes the game more enjoyable, and allows more people to experience it long term. I really hope that TLOU2's accessibility options will be inspiring to other companies and future games so that EVERYONE can enjoy video gaming just as much as we do.

I find it quite funny that most of the points the haters of the game didnt like actually got awards in TGA

    Posted: 11 Dec 2020 01:03 PM PST

"The story is trash" - Best Narrative

"We hate Abby" - Best Preformance Laura Bailey as Abby

"I hate the direction the game went" - Best Direction

"The combat is terrible" - Best Action

"This is the worst game ever!" - Game of the Year

    Gotta admit it's pretty funny.

    Isaac as the true villain

    Posted: 11 Dec 2020 06:41 PM PST

I truly believe that Abby would never have killed Joel without Isaac's long term influence. The Abby we saw in Salt Lake City before she met him was no killer. I see him as kind of a Palpatine figure to Abby's Darth Vader. He exploited the pain that she was in to turn her into his killing machine ("Isaac's top scar killer" as Mel puts it) and set her loose, allowing her to go to Jackson and kill Joel, inadvertently setting off a chain reaction that led to his own demise.

I think through the dissatisfaction of killing Joel and the realisation that she had sold her soul to get something that did not ease her pain in any way, she was able to break Isaac's grip over her. When he asks her to lead his planned genocidal attack on the island and not go looking for Owen, he's extremely emotionally manipulative. He gently puts his hand on her arm and says "I need you Abby, yeah?" and Abby submissively replies "Yeah" like he has power over her that no one else has. I think you can tell that he's used that trick before to get her to do all sorts of awful things for him. It doesn't work this time though because he has no grip on her anymore, she disobeys and goes looking for Owen and through looking for him she's able to meet Lev and Yara who completely change her outlook on life. After a series of circumstances that stem from Abby's new found empathy and her affection for Lev and Yara they all end up on the Island, and it's Yara who kills Isaac, freeing Abby from him once and for all.

Owen was a good guy. Definitely when compared to the others.

TLOU2 and Laura Bailey winning GOTY and Best Performance restored my faith in humanity.

    Posted: 11 Dec 2020 09:33 AM PST

After months of seeing often toxic arguments, and wondering how so many people can dismiss this game as garbage after having played it, the game winning so many awards taught me one important lesson:

The loud and toxic voices on social media don't represent the entire gaming community. And the gaming community, at large, is filled with good people.
