I had originally gotten the Ellie edition and I love the steel book, but I definitely feel like my favorite is the regular box art and the reversible cover!

Thought this coincidence was interesting.....I was watching Eli Roth’s AMC tv show History of Horror and immediately thought of The Last of Us Part II...a 1972 classic horror movie title is familiar....

    Is Tlou2 Really Bad?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 10:03 AM PST

So i managed to not get any spoiler except the death of main character because i always believed that i will play the game by myself (I finished the original two times and i wanted the same experience). I finally got a ps4 last week and im saving up for the game and will problably get it or Ghost Of Tsushima by the end of the year or january. Does Tlou2 give you the same experience?

    Stalkers

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 07:52 AM PST

Does anybody else think that Part 2 didn't use stalkers to their full?

I think that the idea of a stalker, an infected that is mid way through fully being corrupted by the cordyceps and has limited vision and uses their environment to their advantage to hide and attack using the element of surprise.

I think this is an amazing concept and should have been used more. From what I remember it was only used twice, once with Ellie and another with Abby.

I just wished that ND used stalkers more than what they were used.

SPOILERS Ellie's Rampage By The Numbers

    Posted: 20 Nov 2020 09:07 PM PST

I finally got around to doing a Grounded playthrough on The Last of Us Part 2, and turned on the permadeath (by chapter) setting to kill two trophies w/ one stone. This game mode seriously adds a whole new level of desperation that I feel far outpaces the Grounded mode in The Last of Us. The enemy AI is dogged, calculating, and enemies coordinate like a real fighting force. Which also means that like me, you'll wind up dying.....a lot and repeating sections over and over and over and over. Since I was repeating a lot of fights it got me thinking about the true cost of Ellie's vendetta, and more broadly what it cost the WLF during her part of the story. So for the purposes of counting the cost I've outlined the amount of kills that I committed during the playthrough, and recorded what units they were w/, and it revealed some interesting details:

    • Ellie Seattle Day 1
      • School:
        • 16 WLF soldiers killed (Mike's Unit)
        • Includes named soldiers Jordan and Mike
      • Capitol Hill:
        • 4 WLF soldiers killed.
      • TV Station/Subway (Support Unit India):
        • 12 WLF soldiers killed
    • Ellie Seattle Day 2 (Unit Lima)
      • Hillcrest Market Section:
        • 6 WLF soldiers killed, 2 dogs
      • Hillcrest Residential Neighborhood Section:
        • 13 WLF soldiers killed, 4 dogs
      • Hillcrest Running Section:
        • 4 WLF soldiers killed.
      • Hillcrest Truck Hijack:
        • 9 WLF soldiers killed
      • Pilgrim Park
        • 3 Seraphites
      • Hospital + Hospital Basement
        • 12 WLF soldiers, 1 dog
        • Includes named soldiers Whitney and Nora
    • Ellie Seattle Day 3
      • Travel agency:
        • 7 WLF soldiers killed.
      • Beauty store:
        • 3 WLF soldiers killed, 1 dog
        • Includes named dog Bear.
      • Improvised dock (Unit Gamma)
        • 15 WLF soldiers killed
      • Aquarium
        • 2 WLF soldiers, 1 dog
        • Includes named soldiers Owen, Mel, and named dog Alice.

    Total casualty counts:

    • Day 1: 32 dead WLF soldiiers
    • Day 2: 52 dead WLF soldiers, 3 scars, 7 dogs
    • Day 3: 27 dead WLF soldiers, 2 dogs

Grand total of 111 dead WLF soldiers, 3 Seraphites, 9 dogs.

In the span of 3 days Ellie managed to take out something like 6 units worth of WLF personnel completely on her own! Figuring each unit on average has about 20 soldiers to it which could make them small platoons.

Case in point, through her playthrough via radio chatter we can discern that Ellie encountered at least 3 named units:

    1. Support Unit India
      1. Dispatched to the TV station when they went radio silent. Lost most of the unit at said station, fighting infected in the subway tunnels, and then the remainder of the unit was wiped out at Pilgrim Park while in transit to support operations at the hospital.
    2. Unit Lima
      1. Dispatched to Hillcrest in force to hunt for "lone male trespasser".
    3. Unit Gamma
      1. Ordered to hold position at a makeshift doc up river from the Aquarium near the Seattle coast.
        1. They sent 4 soldiers by motorboat to assist w/ the sniper at the marina, but they get killed by Seraphites who set up an ambush point in front of the arcade.

In addition to those groups Ellie also fights three groups whose designation we don't learn, but they are independent groups who had their own objectives:

    1. Mike's Unit at the school.
      1. Mike headed up the unit that was backing up the Serevena Base unit responsible for scavenging downtown. His unit along w/ himself was wiped out by Ellie and Dina almost to the man.
    2. The Unit maintaining blocking positions at Capitol Hill
    3. The blocking unit holding position b/t the "Cassandra" Theater and Unit Gamma at the makeshift doc.
      1. According to their chatter they were supposed to be waiting for a Unit Bravo who was to partake in the amphibious assault on "Scar Island".

Ellie's aptitude for fighting these supposedly trained soldiers really made me think about how she was able to realistically take on such a force and come out on top, and the true reason is simpler than you might think. The fact is that Joel's manner of fighting that she picked up, and the training/tactics of the Jackson Security Forces are surprisingly similar to the tactics of the Seraphites.

First, Jackson makes up for their lack of numbers in training what soldiers they have. Their group patrols are only deployed in groups when it comes to clean up crew actions, and otherwise their scouts, the veterans, are meant to act independently w/ a degree of latitude to grant them operational freedom. Jackson soldiers are trained marksman who can ride horses, scavenge and live off the land. Even their standard armaments of hunting rifles, stealth, and improvised explosives lends itself to the perfect urban fighting training regimen.

WLF soldiers while strong when having superior numbers are woefully under trained when it comes to their individual prowess. They rely on overwhelming firepower, steady supply lines from their bases and outposts, as well as conventional warfare given their main adversary has been another human faction, The Seraphites. A group who, w/ the addition of theatrical executions and a simple yet effective whistle communication system, fight an insurgency in the same way that Ellie attacks them.

Most importantly, they're outright inefficient at taking on the infected. Presumably most of the WLF has NOT been outside the walls of the QZ so their exposure to what little infected remained w/i the city is limited since Wolves and Scars alike tend to avoid the areas that are free of infection. Not to mention they engage w/ constant skirmishes w/ each other as opposed to the infected.

In my opinion this was why I felt as Ellie it was much more difficult to fight Seraphites b/c they moved and acted just like Ellie did, and learning how to fight your own strategy became increasingly difficult.

If you liked this post I plan on doing another one on some WLF details that I've noticed during my ongoing Grounded playthrough in Abby's campaign.

Let me know what you think in the comments.

Should I buy TLOU Part 2 again? Read text

I bought the steelbook because it looks beautiful and I'm a big last of us fan. However my ps4 disc drive stop working. Should I buy it again on sale or should I wait? I want to get a ps5 but it's hard to get. I heard it's not as good as the first one so maybe I can still wait

HBO Series should be about other characters not Joel and Ellie

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 02:25 AM PST

I don't know if anything's confirmed but most responses about the new series seem to imply it will just be a TLOU 1 and 2 remake.

We already seen their story though. Joel and Ellie don't really need a live action remake because the games are already ultra realistic. I hope they do something in universe, with new locations and characters. We've barely scratched the surface of the world of TLOU!

Anyway, I'm super hyped for this series!
