    Really cool details in Jackson

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 03:23 AM PST

Just wanted to details some more missable details of the game. I'm going to do my best to stick to details I haven't seen brought up, but if I mention any that have, I apologize. I was gonna make this a huge post but I'll focus on Jackson for now.

    • Ellie has a picture of a horse in the center of the corkboard above her bed. To it's right, a small drawing of a horse's face, and in very small handwriting is "Callus 🖤". This is a call back to the Winter section of Part I.

    • I've seen it point out that Ellie has a comic book open on her coffee table, but what isn't pointed out is the specific scene that's opened. The character in the comic, I think Daniela Star I'm not sure, has two lines of dialogue. "I won't let them get away with this. It's time we fight back in full force." and "Let's finish this war once and for all." This could be foreshadowing the events of the game.

    • Jackson has a BBQ joint (The Clay Pit BBQ), a hotel (Copper Peak Inn), a leatherworking place (Nubuck Leather Company), a clothing store (Main Street Outfitters), a grocery store (Twin Sisters Grocers), and another place called the Main Street Gallery. There's also a movie theatre but I'm not sure if they're actually using it.

    • Speaking of the Gallery, if you turn around and look at it, the person in the upstairs balcony will wave down at you, and Ellie will wave back.

    • When you first control Abby, if you turn right you can see the gate that Joel, Tommy, and Abby comethrough at the Baldwin Place. They go through that garage that Abby and Owen walk out of.

    • At one point, you'll need to sprint jump to get across with Owen. However, if you're not sprinting, Owen will tell you that you need to run to get across.

    • At the old radio tower as Ellie, you're given the opportunity to look through the binoculars. Here, you can see the next town that Dina and Ellie were supposed to clear out, the supermarket that we did clear out, the lodge that Owen points out to Abby and also shows up in a later flashback, and signs of the incoming blizzard.

    • The handwriting in the logbook differs from person to person.

    • I see this one get overlooked a lot, but Dina has an adverse reaction to the smell of the dead moose outside the supermarket. Adds to the foreshadowing done in Ellie's journal and in Day 1 about her pregnancy.

    • If you ride around a bit when you're lost in the blizzard, Dina will come looking for you.

    • There are a ton of bookshelves during Ellie's patrol section, but most of the books seem to be the same. Two book titles that always spawn are Guests of Fond Memories and Forsaken by the Depths. Sometimes, there will be three titles just recycled, with multiple copies of a title on the same shelf.

    • Ellie has a comic called Rebels of Fire on her nightstand that can also be found in Eugene's place in the old library. Same volume or whatever too. The volume is called Divided We Fall.

    • The tape that Ellie picks up when the girls check out Eugene's porn collection is titled Karmak the Pussy Slayer. I don't know if this is a reference to anything like Dong of the Wolf or Smash Brandi's Cooch. Closest I can think of is Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

    • Joel has these things that keep his books together on the far left end of his bookshelf. Theyre only on two shelves, but there are different animals at the ends of each metal thing. I apologize for not knowing the technical term. I'll link a picture for reference.. Anyway, on shelf, the animal is an elephant. On the other, a velociraptor skull. This foreshadows the Birthday Gift flashback even further.

    • Joel had a few real life books on his bookshelf. He had The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer, The Phantom of the Opera (I'm not sure if he had the OG French version not), and Moby Dick by Herman Melville.

    • Joel has a picture of Ellie, Dina, Tommy, Jesse, and Maria during what I presume to be Thanksgiving in his kitchen.

    • I've noticed that most people know that Ellie won't look at herself in the mirror after killing Nora. She also won't do it following Joel's death.

    • Not sure if Joel made this himself, but in his woodworking office there is a figure of a howling wolf.

The last of us part 2 was heartbreaking and frustrating...but in the best way possible

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 04:41 PM PST

After waiting a long 7 years like I'm sure a lot of you did, I have to say I was upset with what happened. But I feel like I had to come to terms with it, as this game franchise has been too big a part of my life not to.

So I've just accepted it. I am struggling to put this into words but I feel as though this is the most 'realistic' thing we could get from a part 2. Life in itself is messy and gets very out of control, and in a world like the last of us with no rules to live by it's bound to get confusing and chaotic. That's why I think they've made it as realistic as they can. That's just my opinion anyway.

    What does everyone else think?

Supplies and scavenging in Grounded - Newbie

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 10:12 PM PST

Hi all! I'm currently on my second playthrough and decided to take on the challenge of Grounded. I played my first playthrough on Hard and found it challenging, but not horrible. Grounded mode is completely different. Also, the highest difficulty I played in Part 1 was Survivor so keep that in mind as well. I've currently just past Eastbrook Elementary School (thank god), but I'm worried I'm not balancing my resources well enough. So far, I've used 1 arrow (Eastbrook person), 2 shotgun shots (bank optional quest fucked me up so many times), 1 molotov (Serevena), 1 revolver shot (the flank at the beginning of the school), and 1 healthkit. Everything else I've done via stealth or melee. I have no clue is this is way too supplies used up or way too little. It takes me a shit ton of time to get though (I think I'm five hours in and haven't even finished day 1) so I'm wondering if I'm playing things right by heavily saving or if it's okay to fire some bullets here and there to get through things. How did you guys manage your resources - when did you use them and when did you try to get away without it? A lot of posts say "Save for the arcade bloater and rat king" but I have no idea how much I actually need to save to beat these guys on Grounded. TIA

Did TLOU2 kill gaming for anyone else?

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 12:18 AM PST

Me and a few friends have felt the same. We loved TLOU2, one of the best single player campaigns ever if not the best in my opinion.

But since playing it, games don't feel the same. Nothing can come close. We barely play anything anymore!

No matter what you think of part 2 you cant deny that the music is fucking beautiful.

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 03:50 AM PST

Gustavo Santaolalla and Mac Quale deserve every award under the sun for their work on the music. Every single song makes me feel the exact emotion they were supposed to make me feel. All gone is such a beatiful piece. Eye for an eye makes feel the hatred of ellie when you're slitting throats. No matter what you think of the game they nailed the music and emotion. I personally loved part 2 and its hands down the best game i have ever played.
