Neil Druckmann's tweet showing all the antisemitism and hate he's getting makes me sick to my stomach

    The tweet: https://twitter.com/Neil_Druckmann/status/1279841603843051520?s=20

This isn't even about the game anymore. This is just hate speech to its core. I really hope these people seek help because they need it. It's disgusting how they think this is acceptable behavior. I don't care how bad you think the game is, no person should be on the receiving end of this. Get your f***ing life in order.

If you listen closely, you can hear Dina humming “Take On Me.” It touched my heart I just wish I didn’t back out of the letter so early

An interesting line of dialogue that takes on new meaning in retrospect

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 08:55 PM PDT

TL;DR: Ellie initially felt that her death would have been more meaningful than her life, but when she discovers newfound purpose in Dina, and comes to understand the humanity in Joel's choice to save her, she now appreciates her life and wants to live a long one, just like Eugene did.

I'm currently on my fourth run, and early on in the game during Ellie and Dina's patrol, there's this one line of dialogue from Ellie that I realize has greater significance to the story after finishing it:

"I think we should go out like Eugene. From old age...living a long life."

This was the day after Ellie and Joel have their final conversation. The day she was able to find a sense of closure for what Joel did. Being the cure for the infection puts this weight on her shoulders, which gets heavier and heavier considering the amount of guilt and trauma she faces in her life that was at the hand of this infection. She has the chance to restore humanity and to end any further suffering, but this chance gets stolen by Joel. He tells her that the Fireflies stopped looking for a cure, which makes her feel like she's lost her sense of purpose. Even if what Joel told her was true, it would still leave her feeling empty, like the trauma she faced in her journey was all for nothing.

She eventually finds out the truth, and she starts breaking down. Joel tells her that extracting her immunity would have killed her, but she doesn't care. It was a moral obligation that couldn't be uphold. This realization that everything was in vain destroys her. We see that two years after this, Ellie still can't get over Joel's decision to save her life. She feels like she's lost any purpose, any value and self-worth. "I'm just a girl. Not a threat", she tells Dina during the dance scene. But it is in this scene where she rediscovers new purpose in the form of Dina. "They should be afraid of you". Dina doesn't know Ellie is immune, but when Ellie hears this, it's Dina reassuring her that her immunity isn't what makes her valuable. That she's more than that. She has a chance to finally move on...until Joel gets in the way, metaphorically and literally.

Her resentment towards Joel is like a mental roadblock that's preventing her from being able to move on. So when they finally talk, she lays it out on him. "I was supposed to die in that hospital. My life would've fucking mattered!" But he assures her otherwise, that her life is more meaningful than her death. That he would do it all over again, just to see Ellie live a fulfulling life, the one Sarah never got. And it's at this point where she finally gets this sense of relief, a moment of clarity for her. She never truly understood why Joel did what he did. She was always hung up on her lost purpose. But when she realizes the humanity in Joel's decision, she finds a newfound appreciation for him.

Ellie has finally found a reason to live, when that reason previously was in her death. She can finally move on without this burden that lingers throughout her mind. Whereas she initially felt that her life would've been better if she was dead, she now wants to live a long life like Eugene. Replaying the game with this information really gives you insight into why she still persists in her revenge quest, which is an essay for another day.

Sorry for the lengthy read, hopefully someone finds this insightful!

After beating TLOU2 twice I decided to try grounded mode on TLOU. It took a long time and many sanity breaks to complete but I finally did it! Let me just say, fuck the bloater fight in The Hunt.

A neat little visual symbol, near the end of things – the pastoral view of a fully flourished and living tree, next to a broken-down old shed.

My reasons are misguided, but I hope The Last of Us 2 wins all the Game of the Year awards.

Just for the sake of sticking it to all the horrible people that said nasty things to Neil and Laura Bailey and the people that simply trash the game for money and viewership.

After 2 full playthroughs I decided to mess around with the accessibility features. In over 60 hours of game time I had never seen this animation, let alone in slow motion. Very brutal.

Fifth doodle I did. leading up to the game. I absolutely loved the worldbuilding the games do, especially the second one, so that’s what I tried to capture with this one.
