I have a question about some tape recordings that can he listened to in the hospital near the end of the game.

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 10:50 PM PST

In the youtube comment section the other day I came across some comments stating that there are tape recordings that can be found and listened to in the hospital when you're trying to save Ellie that state that in previous situations doctors were unable to successfully create a cure from th4 brains of the immune. There was an argument amongst a few people with a couple denying this and others supporting it. Can you guys clarify whether this exists or not and what exactly the tape does imply if it is real? That kind of paints Joel's decision in a slightly better light if it's true. But either way he would still ultimately be in th4 wrong because he's a hypocrite for not letting Ellie choose, which is allegedly why he thought the fireflies were in the wrong, for not giving her a choice. Also, just like Marlene said, Joel knows that it's more than likely that Ellie would willingly give up her life 3ven if it wasnt guaranteed that a vaccine could be made. That's just who she is and based off of the pause and non answer from Joel when Marlene states this, it's pretty obvious that he believes this as well. That's why he lied at the end. I think that alone makes Joel the guilty party here, especially considering that he murdered several people that had no ill intent and were trying to do something for the greater good.

I really hope Ellie knows the truth by now and her and Joel have talked about it why he did what he did.

Just beat TLOU (not Left Behind, yet) and needed to vent (Spoilers within)

What the hell was the ending!?!?

I loved the story and the character build up but the ending was such a let down, just finished like 10 minutes go so excuse the cluttered thoughts here.

    1. We finally get to the point that Joel and Ellie were communicating their feelings and instead of talking about Ellie going through with the self sacrifice, it's just nothing. The last scene before they enter Tommy's town, in my opinion, confirms that Ellie would have gone through with sacrificing herself to satisfy her survivors guilt and give her purpose.
    2. The absolute incompetence of the fireflies to contain Joel is a joke. I get that they wouldn't have known how close the two got or that he likes to rampage to protect her but some basic prison guarding skills would have prevented the fireflies from getting massacred. (I know you can sneak around them, but it feels like Joel would have rampaged) If they had him in cuffs or zip ties or the guard actually stay out of melee distance when escorting a prisoner out or Joel being mobbed when escaping with Ellie, no way does he make it through. Hell, they emphasize in Marlene's recording that this can save the human race, why take any chances? Just kill Joel at the waterside or restrain him until he's released/told about Ellie dying.
    3. I am looking forward to the next game, as the ending sets up some great character development and relationship development but I'm worried that it's just gonna turn into Ellie finding out that Joel lied to her about their being dozen's others like her and her getting mad and running off.

Should I play on a lower level if I beat the game on "hard"

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 06:40 AM PST

So, I am late to the game, I just beat it first time a few months ago on the whatever the hard difficulty is called (not grounded though) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm not a very good gamer and it took me a lot of time and a lot of dying and replaying the same sequences until I learned where exactly an enemy would jump out on me and how to strategically use all my limited ammo, because I'm shit at aiming. I mainly stealth'ed it to be honest, because I just often couldn't do one-shots and such and had no bullets whatsoever.

I mostly enjoyed hitting things with arrows, which I guess is more stealthy way to deal with enemies anyway, but there were not many arrows in the game and only in the later game when I improved at least a bit and learned you need to save your ammo as much as possible because it's sparse.

So, this being said, will it be a better/different experience for me if I start over on a medium difficulty and do a little more of "aimlessly shooting until I get it"? Is it so much different in terms of ammo on lower levels?

Last of us part II collectors edition

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 02:40 PM PST

So in my country there is one shop that still says it has the collectors edition available. I thought it was sold out everywhere, I never bought a collectors edition, but I'm thinking about buying this one. It says the statue is 12 inch/30 cm tall, which seems huge to me. Would you advice buying it or is it not a good collectors edition for the price (€180)

What would be the easiest way to play the Left Behind DLC?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 12:28 PM PST

I've never experienced the DLC and I figured I probably should before Part 2 is released.

I have both a PS3 and a PS4, but I only have the original PS3 copy of The Last of Us without DLC, and I'd like to avoid purchasing the remaster until I have enough money to justify it, unless a good deal appears somewhere. Any input is appreciated!

Just completed TLOU Grounded - No upgrades. Thought I’d share sections I found hardest, and those I managed surprisingly easily.

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 12:06 AM PST

The other day I completed Grounded mode for the second time, but this time with no weapons or ability (pills) upgrades.

Quick note: I am not good at video games, I just persevered with Grounded because of how much I love TLOU, and I basically wanted to find a way to keep playthroughs interesting.

The sections I found hardest were:

    1. Escaping the lab. When you get down the stairs, the lack of gun holsters really makes it hard to shoot enemies at the door, before they get on position. Had to take cover and pick them off instead. Took me in the region of 250 attempts.

    2. Coal mine fight. For me this section is just choreography, and I just built it up try by try, each time getting a bit further. I don't think the lack of upgrades made it particularly harder, I got stuck at the same point on my last play through, for me it was just a lack of ammo by the time the Bloater arrived. Took me about 200 attempts, reached the Bloater 5 times before completing it.

The sections I managed to do surprisingly easy (less than 10 attempts) were:

    1. Financial district. I think I got lucky with Ellie taking lots of them out
    2. Spotlight. I don't know, it just worked.
    3. Escape the sewers. I Found this section was all about positioning.
    4. Hospital. At this stage I had full med kits and a decent amount of ammo, so I was able to through the kitchen sink at it.

Note that there are whole sections of the game now where on Grounded I just sprint straight through with no combat (e.g when being sniped in the subburbs) - I basically use the strats Anthony Caliber does in his speedruns.

Would love to hear from the rest of you!

How many collectibles are in Left Behind?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 10:57 PM PST

You'd think this would be a fairly simple question, but it's harder to track down than you realize. My save says I've gotten 26, but I still haven't gotten the associated trophy. How many am I missing?
