    What a Part 1 Remake will be and what it won’t be (probably)

    There's a lot of people getting all worked up about the reported Remake, but there's absolutely no reason to be worried... the game will be as simple as this:

    • Part 2 graphics and character models (4 of which we have already seen with Joel, Ellie, Marlene and Jerry through flashbacks)
    • Part 2 mechanics, such as dodge
    • Part 2 UI and menus
    • Part 2 accessibility features
    • Real-time cutscenes

    What it won't be:

    • A changed story (to fit any so-called "agenda")
    • Different actors, for example Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey (they will literally just use the original recordings)

    What there may be:

    • Female enemies, in line with Part 2 (this was originally cut due to lack of disc space)
    • Refined puzzles and potentially level layouts
    • Fixes to any glitches/mistakes ND thought they missed first time around

    So in summary, hold your horses and let's just see what is in store

    I'm honestly baffled by the negative reactions so far.

    The Last of Us one of the best games ever made. I've been a die-hard fan since 2013. I love everything about this game but the reality is that the game is dated. People seem to be forgetting that The Last of Us was a PS3 title. Yes, Remastered runs at 4K which is nice, but it is inherently a 7th gen game.

    I feel like people are massively underestimating Naughty Dog here. Remaking The Last of Us is not going to take them seven years. They made The Lost Legacy from scratch in just over a year and The Last of Us was developed alongside Uncharted 3. They are absolutely capable of working at two things at the same time. The remake would almost certainly not be their only project - it'd be more of a passion-project for the hardcore fans of the first game, while a new IP or Part III would be their main project.

    Demon's Souls is a great remake, that game was 11 years old. Say, the remake for The Last of Us comes out in 2022, nine years will have passed since the original game. And it's not even about how many years have passed since the original, the heart of the matter is the generational jump.

    Assuming they don't mess with the story, which they won't; we're getting the best story ever told in the medium along with mind-blowing visuals and gameplay. Just imagine playing as Joel again, fighting your way through the Pittsburgh hotel, fucking up hunters, exploring Bill's town with Ellie, walking through the suburbs with Henry and Sam, riding around on Callus at the University of Eastern Colorado with Ellie by your side. As a fan, these moments would be borderline transcendental on the PS5.

    When that trailer drops, there's not a chance y'all won't be on the edge of your seats.

    I sure as hell will be.

    A Small Segment to Improve the Intro

    I just finished Ellie's portion for like the forth time now, and playing through Abby's beginning and a thought occured to me

    What if while Joel was recounting the hospital to Tommy in the very first cutscene, it'd switch to a short playable segment while we take control of Joel running down the hallway and bursting into the surgery room. This switch already exists in the game but is strictly cutscne.

    I feel as if we were to control Joel down that hallway again, as he recounts the event, would add even more weight to the scene and the subsequent scenes. It would connect this moment a hell of a lot closer to when we control Ellie walking down this hallway, and then finally Abby as she sprints down to witness her father's blood spilled on the surgery floor.

    I just noticed this specific hallway gets repeated a lot and I thought that if it were playable as Joel, it would add just a little more to the intro and Joel's decision.

    It wouldn't necessarily make people feel satisfied with Joel's death, since it doesn't add much more screentime, but that's not the point. It would add agency to this moment and highlight the fact that this entire game is about that one moment, past that one hallway
