Following the events of Part 2, looking back at this scene in Part 1 makes it even more emotional

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 01:29 PM PST

After knowing full well what happens to Joel in Part 2, I find myself holding back more tears playing through the scene where he carries Ellie and rushes her out of the hospital while that powerful music starts playing and the Fireflies are running after him. More so, compared to my first time playing the game back in 2013.

No matter how selfish Joel was being, the bond he formed with Ellie was too affectionate it's just impossible not to also look at it as a touching moment. Especially when we went through an entire journey of him being a broken man to becoming whole and complete again because of Ellie.

He wasn't going to waste his second chance at being a father. He did what he did with no regrets, and didn't care who would hate him for it cause Ellie meant more to him than the world itself. He was ready for anything that could come back to haunt him for what he did, cause to him it was worth it. Although many people who didn't follow his journey would look down heavily on that, the audience thinks it's beautiful cause we know the context behind his actions.

The Last Of Us part 2 is a masterpiece

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 11:00 AM PST

    Alright, huge spoilers up ahead

It frustrates me how everyone seems to be missing the point of the game completely. To everyone, it's just a story of Ellie killing Abby and when you play as Abby it's just a pushover. Why though? The game is filled with subtleties and metaphors. It's way deeper and darker than TLOU1.

The game is about revenge and how everything crumbles down when you pursue this toxic dream. We see how Ellie and Abby both lose everything because of this and it was not worth it. Specially when they had so much more right before both of them went hell bent on trying to make "the right thing" but it's also a story about loss and forgiveness. We constantly see how Ellie goes to the extreme trying to kill everyone but constantly realizing that she will not accomplish anything by doing so, Joel is gone and will never come back. And Abby, obsessed with killing Joel right after murdering him we see immediate emptiness, it didn't solve a damn thing and it's now the beginning of things to come. About forgiveness: Ellie was resented with Joel for the hospital thing, he took away her purpose of life we all know that. She was conflicted all this time with Joel until she actually forgives him the night before his murder. Granted, she says she can't but she'd like to try, but clearly she wants him back. And at the end of the game when she spares Abby everyone seems to miss the point. She was forced by herself and Tommy to get this far, but all she wants is Joel back. She needs to do this in order to forgive Joel to atone for the years that she regrets not being with him. The regret of not using the time she was given to be with him is too much. But then she remembers Joel the night when they talked and she already forgived him in a way and she did all she could albeit pretty late, and sees now that there is no point in killing Abby. She lost everything for this false passion, she even loses her fingers now not being able to play the guitar which now shows she even lost Joel, since playing the guitar was the thing that stuck with Ellie all this time since he taught her.

Ellie and Abby are both anti heroes. And the contrast between Ellie, an 18 year old naive kid that is on the road to revenge, with Abby, a 20 something year old regular person atoning for the regret and emptiness she has after her obsession with vengeance is over. Everyone knows that revenge is a bad thing, but the game shows how it affects your circle. They both end up living, but all is lost. Loved ones, dreams, family, even both of their bodies are affected by this.

There is also a trend on hating this game that pretty much is summed up by saying "what i want doesn't happen, therefore what happens suck". It's a story about descent, and how Ellie specially which was an innocent girl is now just as bad a Abby, which in truth she isn't, she cares about others, and the game shows you empathy by playing as her a huge chunk of the game. How salty can people be about refusing to accept a story that goes against what you want to happen? I mean i would love Joel and Ellie to be in jackson forever and live happily ever after but this is the story we're getting and it's a damn good one.

About Joel and Ellie not acting like in the first game: they are both settled in a new life, father and daughter, there's no fight for survival anymore. Ellie is now 18 and is more mature and also lost her will to live, as being the cure was her ultimate goal. Now driven by hate as she is not experienced with loss by murder, she has no restraint. And Tommy? We never knew much about Tommy so him being an asshole is perfectly a choice.

I've said a lot already, i was scared of what i was gonna find in this game because i heard so much shit that i was skeptical about buying it. It is so damn good. Thoughts?

Whatever your opinions may be of TLOU2, you can't deny that the acting, gameplay, visuals, audio, and music are all amazing things within this game. Playing anything else right now is really difficult and I want to do another play through of this game but my brother is currently borrowing my PS4 so he can play TLOU2 among other games currently. I just can't stop thinking about it and I have so many thoughts and feelings on everything about the game that I'll probably share in a later post.
