Photo mode is so great in this game! Got some Frank Miller vibes by this one I made.

Drawing of Joel - one of my favorite pieces I made tbh

Thought this picture looked familiar at the house I’m staying at on holiday...

Can we PLEASE talk about how GOOD this song is? (Longing - Gustavo Santaolalla)

    Ellie Loves Playing with Dogs

I’m sorry, I really can’t stand all of these plot holes...

    Posted: 18 Aug 2020 09:07 AM PDT

... in the last of us part 1.

    I mean think about it:

    1) The moment Tess and Joel say they need to find a firefly, Marlene just stumbles in right next to them? At this random spot that they chased Robert to? That sure is lucky and convenient storytelling.

    2) Bill, Joel, and Ellie are looking for a car battery at the school, they run away, and they just happen to end up at the only house in the town that has that car battery and a working car? This is just a lazy and unbelievable way to keep the plot moving forward.

    3) Within a minute of meeting Henry & Sam, Joel just agrees to follow them to their hideout? Is he crazy? He's been a smuggler and hunter in this world for 20 years. He doesn't think these people might have been looking for him, and that they might have been walking him into an ambush? The real Joel would never be so trusting to strangers he just met.

    4) When Joel tries to get into the power plant at Jackson, and Maria and her crew pulls out their guns on them, Joel openly calls Ellie by her real name in front of all of them? "Ellie, do as the lady says." We all know survivors in this world would never call each other by their real name in front of strangers and would always use fake aliases.

    5) And don't forget, Joel should have 100% died after having that rod pierce through his body. He got no real medical attention, some penicillin, and some stitches from a 14 year old, and somehow he survives? That is a massive plot hole that just shows how this whole story is filled with lazy and unbelievable writing.

    6) And when Joel is being attacked by the guy that throws him off the ledge in that section, Ellie is just standing there? There are no other enemies in the vicinity, and Ellie doesn't try to stab the guy strangling Joel or anything? She is clearly acting out of character just to get the plot going.

    7) Oh and don't even get me started on how unsatisfying the ending is. We spend the whole game trying to cure the zombie apocalypse, and at the end, we don't even get to cure the zombie apocalypse? At least let me cure the zombie apocalypse like I wanted to originally come on.

Ok, obviously I'm not really shitting on the first game. I love it to death and it is one of my all time favorites. Just pointing out how easy it is to make these kind of arguments even on games that are widely loved, and how so many people seem willing to ignore these things when they get the story they want. But when they don't get the story they want, somehow these minor "flaws" ruin the whole game. Seems wildly inconsistent if you ask me.

I love the lighting in this game. It’s so moody.

This scene meant a lot to me, had to use it as my plat screenshot. Absolute masterpiece of a game. Thank you, Naughty Dog!

Ellie meets Animal Crossing. This game is so haunting that even when I'm on the opposite kind of game I still think of her.

If you finish Grounded, instead of Wayfaring Stranger you hear Joel's full cover of Future Days

One corridor. Two games. Three lives forever changed.

Maybe my favourite part of the game. From the banter to the music to the encounters, I loved every second I spent in this area.

Went for a more cinematic vibe with this, I love how it turned out

Does anyone realize just how much Joel is actually part of the game?

    Posted: 18 Aug 2020 09:47 AM PDT

I hear a few people saying the 2nd game was promoted as though Joel was a big part of the game, so they feel like they were tricked.

I started thinking about it, and he was actually in the game a lot more than I thought he was.

Joel and Tommy Riding scene start of the game

Joel gifting Ellie a guitar and singing to her

Joel, Abby and Tommy fighting off hordes of zombies, then bad scene happens with Ellie included

Joel and Ellie exploring a museum together

Joel and Ellie exploring a Hotel together to find guitar strings

Joel and Ellie scene where Joel finally tells Ellie the truth of what happened with the Fireflies

Joel, Ellie and Dinna scene where Joel defends Ellie from a bigot town member

Joel and Ellie final scene where Ellie starts to forgive Joel

    Thank You Naughty Dog

Finished Part II Saturday night. I wish I could personally thank everyone who worked so hard to make this game a reality. TLOU is really more than a game series, it's an emotional storytelling experience. Part II solidified this as my favorite game series. Can't wait to see the next universe Naughty Dog steps into.
