Did anyone else find the ending hopeful?

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 03:52 AM PDT

Ellie is alive, and able to start moving on. Not just from Joel's death but also from his choice.

She has two people she's willing to live for now, Dina and JJ, who are also alive. Dina even leaves a pillow and a clean sheet set on their old bed. I guess she knew/hoped Ellie would come back and thought she might need to rest there.

Abby and Lev are both alive and are at Catalina Island. They are going to meet the Firefly's meaning they are potentially a link between an immune person, and people who COULD know how to procure a vaccine.

Tommy is alive. Dina is a loving, forgiving person who had a raging crush on Ellie for four years as per the journals. Ellie didn't go through with it and may be redeemable in Dina's eyes.

I felt broken during the final fight but when the sun came up on Catalina island, I felt joy.

Over 2,000 people and 14 studios worked on The Last of Us Part 2

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 04:04 AM PDT

In total there are 2,332 people involved in the creation of The Last Of Us Part II. 2,169 of them are developers while 163 were special thanks to other parts of the game. Naughty Dog and Sony hired two independent studios to annex the voice-over recording and the sound of weapons. Both specialized in design and sound mixing. In addition, 12 other studies were subcontracted to offer support on various topics.

    Got me thinkin'.

So as we all know, ellie is immune. She found out in the mall with riley. Then after riley either died or turned, ellie went and found Marlene, and she realised that cordeceps didnt effect her. That was only found out because she was bitten. So a question popped into my head a while ago. Could there be plenty more like her that are immune, but just dont know it yet, cause they haven't breathed spores or been bitten? With other viruses and fungal infections, there is never just one immune individual, even with no genetic ties. As cordeceps in this game basically IS a real fungi, with just evolution to let it effect humans, there's bound to be more immune. What do y'all think?

Kids born after Outbreak Day probably think Mario powering up with a mushroom is really weird.

Given what Jesse said about mushrooms in the book store, people probably hate fungi in general. Maybe that's why Playstations are so popular in the apocalypse.

End game stats not in TLOU2?

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 05:00 AM PDT

Found it interesting that the end game stats aren't a thing in the sequel. I'm always interested in knowing how many times I died and killed someone etc. Would also be cool to know how many times you used listen mode. I wonder why it was not implemented this time around.

    About Abby

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 01:59 AM PDT

I didn't like Abby. BUT I loved the story, I didn't want Abby to die in the end, because I just got kinda used to her and Lev. Who wouldn't after playing 10 hours as her? Still, I highly appreciate Naughty Dog's decision not to make her a perfect, badass hero in her redemption story.

She's a very fucked up person and I won't lie, this is BOLD! In that regard, Joel's characterization in TLOU was too safe, revealing his worst side only through quick exchange of dialogue during gameplay ("I've been on both sides") and only reminding us of his horrible past in a scene of cannibals' torture, which for many looked more badass than creepy. And of course the ending.

Abby, on the other hand, is introduced when she's at her bottom, through torturing a beloved character (and we know how it affected the fans' overall opinion on her), and Naughty Dog could stop there with her negative traits and actions, that would be enough to make her divisive. But they don't stop there.

Throughout her story, Abby keeps making mistakes, Abby keeps giving in to her anger, she keeps making questionable decisions and saying strange things. She says that shooting brain-washed kids is OK, she doesn't warn her friends about the revengeful Tommy who was killing WLF soldiers right next to the aquarium, she has sex with her pregnant friend's drunk boyfriend, almost kills an innocent pregnant woman etc.

I don't understand why many critics say that Abby's entire plot is forcibly trying to make us fall in love with Abby with the cheapest tricks and manipulations. It is not true. I love that some players just didn't accept her and continued to consider her a psychopath. I love that some players forgave and came to love her, or at least understood her.

Abby is a complex, controversial and believable character and remains so until the end of the game. While Naughty Dog obviously do try to change player's attitude towards Abby in a positive direction, it's not blatant and cheap. Naughty Dog didn't take the easy path with this story in every aspect and this is worthy of respect.
