The Last of Us | Early Impressions Megathread

When the spoilers for TLOU2 came out, there was shit being flung at the game from every direction coming from the "Get woke/go broke" crowd of gamers and it made me really sad. This game is a project that has been in the works for probably over 5 years at this point, and to see all of the trolls and self proclaimed "heroes" coming out of the woodworks with their bigoted mindsets trying to smear the game and ruin it for others is truly heartbreaking to see.

But seeing ND and Neil Druckmann clapping back against the haters with top sales on multiple platforms, a wildly successful State of Play conference, and overwhelmingly positive first impressions of the game from reviewers gives me a lot of happiness and hope. Hope that despite the rocky home stretch the game had, it will go down as a masterpiece and be remembered for years to come.

So I'm a huge TLOU fan, and I just feel I have to say this because I haven't seen really said specifically.

People who have just turned their back on Naughty Dog, read the leaks, refuse to be level headed, are just downright weak.

This isn't some studio who has just turned out shitter after shitter. It's goddamn Naughty Dog! Imagine how little amount of hope you have to have just to give up and be hateful so quickly from a studio that truly delivers everytime for their fans.

This whole thing has proven that you can be almost perfect, and always do your best, and it still doesn't matter, there will weak willed people who will react negatively when there's a crack, instead of waiting for more context and having a little faith.

I appreciate this sub because it reminds me how important faith is. Thanks everyone who didn't cave in to the hate bandwagon, we're smarter and better than that.

Just a few more weeks everyone.

I bet we are all replaying this baby once again now that part 2 is just around the corner! Even though Neil said TLOU 2 is going to be centered around revenge and anger, i hope we get some more wholesome moments and character development from these two

i've been waiting for this game for like 4 years and I cannot believe that it's about to release. It's kind of weird since this game always seemed like a thing of the future but now it's finally here. I'm super hyped and excited for this game. I really am gonna cherish my first playthrough and explore everywhere and do everything I can since there is nothing like playing an amazing game for the first time.

With every big launch I'm excited about is the same. I have a 7 year old boi here. In console years, it's a grandpa. So far it's never let me down but you never know. If it was to die now, I wouldn't be able to play the game until I get a PS5.

I'm actually proud of Naughty Dog making this game accessible to a wider range of audiences. They are putting in effort so everyone can enjoy it. My favourite feature has to be adding the ability to use the controller's touchpad so players can zoom in and take a closer look at the world.

We've seen lots of content in the past few days and we can see why Naughty Dog had delayed the game for a while, the extra work is clearly visible and i'm sure it won't go unrewarded. 😁
