They walked Ellie’s route in Seattle. “For research” Posted: 28 May 2020 12:52 PM PDT Come on. Stop it ND. This level of commitment is just unheard of these days. When they made uncharted 3 they flew some folks out to a desert just to walk about and see how the sand moved when walked over. I mean come on. They referenced the journey through Seattle on foot. Taking pictures. Mapping. Scaling. Then the artwork to visualise. The insane concept art that could stand in an art gallery by itself without need for the game. It's a whole other level of detail to then see what would grow where, why, and how. I'm beyond gobsmacked at this level of research. They didn't need to do it. But the fact they did makes them one of the best most innovative companies in the world today for gaming. [link] [comments]
Anybody else looking forward.... Posted: 28 May 2020 04:18 PM PDT Looking forward to playing as Ellie? She was a bad ass in pt1 and she was only a little girl. Now she is grown and has learned a lot from Joel. She is ready to take care of business!!! [link] [comments]
Overlooked statement from Neil in the State of Play Posted: 28 May 2020 08:19 PM PDT I was watching the State of Play for a second time, and I found one comment from Neil particularly interesting. At 6:04 in the video, he says "... She (Ellie) can use ropes to scale vertical terrain, or scale over obstacles, allowing you to discover new areas, resources, and side narratives. The words side narratives for me is very telling. I doubt that Part 2 will have fully fleshed out side quests, because it really isn't the type of game to have those. However, if I had to guess, the words side narratives seem to imply something that would be a lot bigger than Part 1's optional dialogue encounters. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but this makes me very excited. This game is looking like it will be highly repayable based on this comment, and what the State of Play showed in the size of the map, and numerous potential areas to explore. Please discuss! EDIT: Also, do you like the semi open world direction ND is going in, akin to something like Uncharted: Lost Legacy? Or would you rather have had another mainly linear game? Discuss as well! I want to hear people's thoughts on this. [link] [comments]

How I interpreted the menu for TLOU 2 Posted: 28 May 2020 06:32 PM PDT After seeing the menu screen I was honestly fascinated by it, most game menus are very inviting and welcoming the player to start the journey, but this, this is telling you that the journey you are about to take is gonna be painful and full of hate. I've never seen anything like it. Starting with the boat; The boat seems to be pretty small, if i had to estimate it could probably hold 3-4 people max ( i dont know anything about boats just estimating) but the boat could also be operated by a single person, which I think it is. I see this as Ellie having everyone and everything taken from her. The empty space on the boat can symbolize that there is a lot of empty space in Ellies life, making her feel alone and empty. Like she has nothing and no one to fill the boat with, but she is determined to go on the boat anyway, despite her being alone. All I know is that something horrible happened to jackson, which could have taken everything away from her. The single engine shows that there is one person guiding the journey and path of the game, which can be assumed thats Ellie who is guiding the game and journey. Although its obvious she is the protagonist it doesn't really seem like she is in control of the situation or whats happening, so maybe she isn't steering the boat? It also kind of reminds me of how Ellie chooses her own path and does what she wants to do rather than what others want her to do. Like she didn't just let David kidnap her and kill her, she fought back and struggled for her life, she has a very strong will. It's like she if she is steering the boat into whatever dangers may come a long with adventuring into the fog, which shows she is certain with her abilities and she can get herself out of any bad situation she ends up getting herself in. Like it kind of shows character development in a way, Ellie in the first game was kind of unsure of herself and abilities but now in the second game she knows who she is and what she wants. The fog in the distance shows the uncertainty in what may come if the boat decides to move ahead. There is no telling whats past that fog which I think shows that this game may not be what we may want or expect it to be. The emptiness of the whole picture kind of reminds me of how empty everyone in that world is, killing eachother is now a must do to survive, so people don't really give a second thought to killing someone. The water is definitely what interests me the most. The darkness and unknown depth of the water is kind of frightening. Its almost like if you jumped in the water you would never come back up. I think it could mean Ellie is depending on someone or something throughout the game, kind of similar to depending on the boat to keep you afloat and stop you sinking into the dark depths of the water. I really like how simple and clean the menu and title is too, just the "PRESS ANY BUTTON" really shows how this game isn't gonna be happy and cheerful. It's not inviting you to play, its letting you choose to experience the game only if you want to. Like you having to start the engine on the boat and push through, its your choice to start the journey. As we know, the game is about dull hatred and pain, and the color pallet perfectly reflects this. Like I said, there is nothing inviting about this, which I like. Although the color scheme may seem boring, there isn't anything boring about this menu. It somehow has a lot to look at without overwhelming you with a lot of things and stuff to look at. The difference in the title screens are also really interesting. The warmth coming from the window represents Ellie coming into Joels life and making it better and making him better as a person. Like I heard a saying "when a door closes a window opens" kind of like Joel losing his daughter is a door closing and meeting Ellie is like a window opening. Bringing light and happiness to his once sad life. It will be interesting to see how the menu relates to the games story after finishing it. Thats what I had to say about this, thank you for reading! would like to hear your thoughts! Also sorry if I sound like an english teacher over analyzing everything or whatever. There was also a lot of edits to this because I can't spell so sorry if it looks a bit funky. also mods if you see this; i really appreciate you guys protecting the sub from leakers and spoilers. a lot of mods wouldn't have locked down an entire sub for the sake of the community and wouldn't have cared who got spoiled, but you guys did which was really cool! It really shows how good this community is and how well everyone treats eachother. [link] [comments]

Was there any ever talks/plans or any news of a prequel game? Posted: 28 May 2020 07:15 PM PDT I was wondering if there was any ever talks/plans or any news of a prequel game besides the DLC? 20 years pass between the beginning of the outbreak and when Joel first starts his journey with Tess. I figured there would be more than enough of a story to create another game. Joel and Tess meeting, Joel and Tommy parting ways, Tommy creating his own home in Jackson County, the beginning of the Fireflies. [link] [comments]
Anybody else excited for the reviews? Posted: 28 May 2020 02:00 PM PDT I know review copies have already been sent out and infact some reviewers have already completed the game. I'm so excited/nervous to see the reviews. Is it gonna be a 10/10 like the first one? Maybe a bit of a downgrade or is it gonna be completely dissapointing?? [link] [comments]
