Can't wait to see Part II's intro sequence.

Seeing as how the first game has one of the greatest opening sequences of all time, any thoughts or theories on how Naughty Dog plans to top that?

I expect to be thoroughly knocked on my ass in the first few minutes.

What are the specifics behind what is actually preventing the game (physical copies) from being released?

    Posted: 12 Apr 2020 12:37 PM PDT

Apologies if it's a stupid question, of course we all know the pandemic has led to the developers & distributors' inability to produce/ distribute the necessary amount of physical copies for the game... but I'm just wondering what the specific main problem(s) are, and what possible solutions there could be?

The developers have stated that the game is essentially finished, and all that is really left to do is further polishing/ bug fixing. So it's not a development issue where workers in the team aren't able to come in to work or do their development job effectively... From what I've heard, the problem is mainly to do with production and distribution of physical copies, but what are the specific hurdles if that's the case?

Is it because the places where these physical copies are created are not safe for people to come in to work and do the hands on creation/ packaging of the physical game? Or is it more because the process of getting these copies onto trucks/ into transport and then delivering them to people's homes (or stores or wherever) is too complex, risky and slow right now (and varies from country to country)? Or is it the simple dangers of delivering copies to people/ stores which could be a possible way of physically spreading the virus due to different people handling/ coming into contact with the physical copies?

Is it any of the above? Is it all of the above? Or is it some other problem I'm not mentioning?

And for part 2 of my question, what are the best options/ most likely solutions to deal with the problem(s)? Are there some workarounds that have been floating around, or is the only realistic option to simply wait out the pandemic until the virus has died down and the spread has drastically reduced?

Again, apologies if some of these questions are a bit stupid, I'm just really wondering what the specifics are behind this situation and I'm sure talking more about this could help some of us to better understand what's going on, as well as manage our expectations.

SPOILER: A thought I had about a parallel between two characters.

    Posted: 12 Apr 2020 10:46 AM PDT

Specifically, Joel's behavior toward Sarah and Ellie.

The night of Sarah's death, when their car flips, her leg is injured. Joel carries her but she obviously is ultimately killed. In the twenty (one) years since her death, I imagine Joel has at least had periods where the "ifs" ate at him: if I hadn't gotten in the car with Tommy, if we hadn't gotten hit by that car, if I had turned quicker when the soldier aimed his gun back at us...

If Sarah's leg hadn't been injured, she might have survived that night.

And then we have the escape from the Firefly lab. A bond between Joel and Ellie has been forged. He kept himself closed off from the world, and progressed through disdain, tolerance, affinity, and ultimately love for Ellie. He brought her to the Fireflies, in part because she became his "daughter", and he wanted to make her happy. That dream turned into a nightmare at the flip of a switch, and he fights to save her. He does save her.

But near the end of that struggle, he is confronted by Marlene. Part of him knows that Marlene is right - it's at least possible that Ellie would want to sacrifice herself to save mankind. But Joel decides that he either doesn't care, or his own desires outweigh the needs of humanity to him. What has the human race done for the world anyway? What fresh horrors will it inflict if it's "redeemed"? And so he shoots Marlene, first to incapacitate her, and later to kill her. But in between there is a critical moment.

Joel is frantic throughout the whole ordeal, especially after he recovers Ellie from the operating room. He is desperate to escape with Ellie. He finds a car, and places her in the back seat. He doesn't cradle her head as he's doing it - this is about haste more than finesse. But before he closes the door, he tucks her legs in so that they'll be safe. He doesn't do it slowly, but he does it with care. Maybe his subliminal mind is reminding him:

"Be careful with her. She's fragile, like Sarah was. Don't make the same mistakes you did last time..."

Why playing 'The Last of Us' and other related games might be a good idea in the wake of COVID-19

    Posted: 12 Apr 2020 08:55 PM PDT

-SKIP FIRST PARAGRAPH IF YOU ALREADY KNOW ABOUT THE LAST OF US-

The Last of Us is a horror/ thriller title about a man named Joel trying to get a girl named Ellie across the country (U.S.) in order to find a vaccine for the virus that's plaguing the world called 'Ophiocordyceps Unilateralis', or just Cordyceps. What's so special about this girl is that she has been bitten by one of the many infected in the game and yet has not become one. She is immune to the fungal virus.

WARNING: This game is not for the faint of heart as there are many scenes of brutality, immense blood, some gore, drug reference, and more, so if you can't handle these things then DO NOT watch or play the game.

TLOU may have seemed like a scary game at it's first launch, and the idea of it made many concerned about the fact that it's a game that's based on an evolved real life virus called 'Ophiocordyceps Unilateralis' or just Cordyceps, as mentioned above in the first paragraph, but it has caught new heat, and that's the heat of COVID-19. People are drawing relations between TLOU and COVID-19 (Coronavirus) because the situations seem so similar and yet so different. In the game there was a point of quarantine just like we are having today (April 12th, 2020). The roads have become very empty and so have many other places such as stores, recieving explosive amounts of customers and then little to none. In TLOU there then came a point of evacuation, which is also happening in small amounts in certain places in real life. Then came the collapse in TLOU, which we have not hit yet and hopefully never ever will. Pollution went down as well in the game and it has started to go down in real life too.

My suggestion to you readers is to play this game and other titles that are related. Why? Well I'm telling you to because there are lessons to be learned from these games. These games may be gruesome and horrific, but so is reality. I have played through TLOU a few times and the lessons are so valuable. You never stop learning from the beginning all the way to the end. I can promise you that. Take my advise and play the game or watch it online, on PS3 or PS4, I'd even buy the DLC: 'Left Behind'. You'll think of the world differently afterwords. In a good and bad way.

Also if you're into more plague and apocalypse kind of books I suggest the book 'Black Monday' or 'Left Behind'

Is there any mention of someone amputating a limb in TLOU to prevent the virus from spreading?

I'm honestly curious. It could depend on how fast it moves throughout the body.

    Scared to buy the game

    Posted: 12 Apr 2020 11:07 PM PDT

Have never played this game, but I'm scared to buy it, because I feel like it's been spoiled for me already. Like I think YouTube spoiled it for me.

This is what I know and only know: that Joel can't die and that the little girl (I think her name is Ellie) gets captured by some evil bandits supposedly at the end?

Do I know too much? Sorry for this stupid post lmao. Please no spoilers.

    I'm staying away from YouTube
