    Joel... wtf?

The Salt Lake Crew’s hatred of Joel is totally justifiable

    Posted: 08 Feb 2021 04:02 AM PST

It's easy to be more sympathetic to the Salt Lake Crew's (Abby and chums) hatred of Joel when you look at the fact that they were all former Fireflies.

Think about it: You are part of a movement since a very young age that you believe will bring back a sense of order to the world, and a man like Joel not only kills a respected surgeon, but: - Takes away from them a chance of a vaccine that would give them immense control - Kills their leader in Marlene - Causes the entire organisation to disband

Basically, Joel destroyed everything they believed in and fought for.

Given that context, it makes what they were doing totally understandable. If I was Manny I'd be tempted to spit on him too.

Were the fireflies intentionally awful and incompetent?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2021 11:02 AM PST

Throughout the game the fireflies make a lot of dumb choices and pretty selfish decisions. Like they are a terrorist group. Although the military are pretty awful as well to be fair

The finale really presents them in a pretty negative light if you think about it. The guard that knocks Joel out: Do they not know about Joel and Ellie. They should at least know to be on the lookout for a young girl so maybe don't leave a young girl to die. Also pretty messed up that they see someone trying to save a child's life and there response is to knock them out and possibly let the kid die. You could just point your gun at him until the kid wakes up then arrest him.

The fireflies not killing Joel doesn't make any sense. Sending him out without any resources is a death sentence anyway so just kill him there.

Not waking Ellie up and letting her say goodbye to Joel and Marlene was pretty selfish. They were trying to avoid any guilt of her begging for her life so they could live with themselves especially if the cure didn't work.

Also they don't seem to have the resources to distribute the cure. One guy destroys their entire organisation in the end. What was the plan for a group of hunters that take the cure from them?

Why was there only a few hours of preparing for surgery. Surely from a morality perspective and a logical perspective, killing Ellie should be a last case scenario not the first thing they try.

Was this poor writing to get the story to were they want to go or intentional. The way the sequel treats the firefly's like saints suggests the first option what do you think?
